George Gillett quote from his interview on the highlights.

"We haven't set a price for players. The budget we have will be player specific. Rafa is an excellent coach and we'll support him. We're building for long term success, not one day or one year so we'll be looking at ways to do that and it will include improving the first team."

    Sounds promising.

It sounds consistent with what seems to be Rafa's policy. He has a price in his head of what a player is worth and he won't go over that.

The difference now is that we can go for players we wouldn't normally have.

Yeah Hicks said the player specific budget thing in his take over speech, everything they have said sounds great, lets hope there actions speak the same.

The money may be there now but the question is - will rafa use the money on big players if he thinks he is paying over the odds?

I dont think Rafa's got a problem with 'paying over the odds'.

After all, we paid 7m for Pennant and 10m for Kuyt.

If he thought that, within reason ofcourse, he could sign someone of the calibur of Villa or Eto'o he would pay what it took. Anything more than £30,000,000 and he would probably walk away but if he thought that he could get them for something round about that amount, or even less, I reckon that he'd try his hardest to push the deal through.

It's going to be an interesting summer that's for sure.

I dread the day that I wake up to find that we've spent £15,000,000 on Darren Bent though.

Yea i think this 40million war chest is just a guess by the papers. I read a quote from Hicks in the echo last week saying something like that if we fail to sign a big name player he won't let Rafa go and buy 2/3 crummy players witht that money

Been mentioned on another thread, but these guys are touting the media quite a lot. I'm looking forward to every post match interview, not only will we get the goal scorers/captain and manager point of view, we'll also get comments from the Chairmen!

Won't be long before they've got their own show on LFCTV on Sky

They will probably only come to the big games.

I usually hate chairmen that can't get enough of the media.

There were the usual suspects such Geaffrey Richmond (remember him), Milan Mandaric, Peter Ridsdale etc. Usually just means an ego trip.

I hope these guys are different.
                        Oh I don't know.

Dom i agree i usually hate chairmen being on the telly. Maybe its double standards but i like it when i hear these two,

I think they have learned from Glazer and Lerner, they have both been criticised for not being visible.

Rather than meida bleetings and look at me type people i think its a charm offensive for the liverpool supporters, and raising the profile for any sponsers etc. once things have settled with the stadium etc i think they will be alot lower key than we are seeing.
