Both these teams would be a hard hard match. I just prefer to face Valencia because Chelsea know us very well and they will want revenge for their defeat in 2005 and we both know each other very well.

Mate, we all condemn it. I can't imagine there's any lads on here who can't wait for a good old ****in' tear up. We're just being realisitic.Originally posted by einar View PostI just would have liked to see more condemnation from my fellow LFC supporters here.
What are we all doing to fight this. We tried to make peace with Juve in a big gesture.
Does it take another disaster to make something happen.
It'll be hell in Athens if we both get to the final. Unless you get a buzz out of it kicking off everywhere, the experience won't be at all pleasant.

I understand the reality of this. But all I hear is: oh well, that is the way it is.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostMate, we all condemn it. I can't imagine there's any lads on here who can't wait for a good old ****in' tear up. We're just being realisitic.

You all seem quite content to accept this situation.

What do you reckon "we" could do about it?!Originally posted by einar View PostI understand the reality of this. But all I hear is: oh well, that is the way it is.

Sadly it IS the way it'll be. There'll be fighting in the airport bars FFS. Nightmare.
I'd do almost anything to make sure this final doesn't happen. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I will travel to Athens, like I did to Istambul, unless we are playing United. I don't think anyone here wants to see trouble but are more accepting the fact of 60,000+ heated rival fans + copious amount of alcohol = trouble. I'm no coward, but like to stay sensible when I can.Originally posted by einar View PostI understand the reality of this. But all I hear is: oh well, that is the way it is.

Maybe a meeting between the two fanclubs and a combined message. Something symbolic at the next match. If the fact is that 99% of both fans dont want any violence then surely there should be willingness to do something.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostWhat do you reckon "we" could do about it?!

It isn't just a football rivalry, you really have to be born & bred somewhere along the corridor of the M62/Manchester Ship Canal to understand that, and no amount of words would ever be enough.Originally posted by einar View PostMaybe a meeting between the two fanclubs and a combined message. To be idealistic is not the right way forward, the spoken word would only be heard by those willing to listen, only strong arm tactics by police & stewards from both countries might prevent full scale carnage, but trouble there will be of that there is no doubt, and the losing team's lunatic fringe would ensure it would be remembered for all the wrong reasons after the event.
It really is best for all concerned that it doesn't happen in the first place, or a quick decision to play the final in this country if it does.

Well I´m not talking about this game, but rather in general.Originally posted by lfc4ever View PostIt isn't just a football rivalry, you really have to be born & bred somewhere along the corridor of the M62/Manchester Ship Canal to understand that, and no amount of words would ever be enough.

My feeling is that the "lunatic fringe" is encouraged by what they are reading here.

In general, it is fine.Originally posted by einar View PostWell I´m not talking about this game, but rather in general.

But we are only talking here about this one-off game being played by 2 of the giants of English football in the biggest Club final there is in the world, who just happen to have the biggest rivalry in English football there is, being played in a foreign land, which will be full of alcohol fuelled adolescents (and some that are older that should know different!) out to prove a point.
The voice of reason will be drowned out, especially by the losing teams fans, they will be inconsolable at having lost this one off match to the perceived enemy, them up/down the road.
