    Rod Liddle

Has anyone every heard of this chap? I was reading a Times article and here's an excerpt ....

The BBC - and Gary Lineker and Alan Hansen in particular - were too negative and critical of the England team, he told the embarrassed executives. Furthermore, Barwick, a Liverpool supporter, as you might have gathered from this strange victim mentality, added that the BBC had “hounded” former England manager Sven-Göran Eriksson.

christ get over it, barwick has been guilty of being thin skinned and plain dumb. it's called a stereotype, it only causes offence if true.

My comments about Rod Liddle are not necessarily based on the article or comments on this thread. I've read other non-football related articles he has written and seen a couple of his TV shows and I still think he is a ****.

Rod Liddle writes, or at least wrote, for The Spectator when they published Simon Heffer's article about Liverpool for which Boris Johnson (then editor) took the flak. It's probably a passing reference to that.

He was also an active participant in The Spectator's pro-celebrity bed-hopping and is clearly an obnoxious prick with an inflated view of his own talent and importance in the world.
              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

He was responsible for bringing Gilligan in to work on the Today programme, whose sloppy journalism led to the David Kelly crisis.

He is a nasty little right wing ****, one of those opinion peddling tabloid journalists that are controversial for cash. In the mold of Gary Bushell. He also crops up on **** tv panel shows.

Vain, arrogant knob end, ignore him if you can. If you can't then set his hair on fire.
