Squad Rotation - Paying Dividends Again?

Once more going into the climax of the season, the whole team look fresh, hopefully enough to take us to number six. Further, our injury record has improved beyond recognition, during the end of Houllier's reign and the start of Benetiz's we had half a team on the sidelines.

This highlights that squad rotation does work; if only we can strike a balance at the start of the season, 19 may not be that far off.

Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

    * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

Gerrard doesn't look too fresh to me, perhaps it's time we rotated him?

Yes but its such a pity that the early rotation cost us points a the start of the season. Hopefully the players are used to it now and will hit the ground running in August.

I dont just love him, I'm IN love with him

He is the player that has played most though as he had to deal with injuries to other midfielders.

It doesn't help that he has just had to carry an entire National Team on his back

Oh yes of course. I keep forgetting what a hero he is. Maybe that's why he's always tired - flying about with a cape on and getting changed in phone boxes.

Have to admit I haven't been a fan of the rotation system especially when Rafa makes big personnel changes from game to game but if it pays dividends at the end of the season then who am I to complain. Hopefully Rafa has learned a lesson from the away defeats at start of this season and realises the importance of a strong start to the campaign!! Maybe start next season with our strongest 11 and rotate players when we are in the swing of things with points on the board
                        Dare we believe

Ah right, I thought you were being sarcastic. I think it's quite refreshing that we haven't looked at all reliant on him over the past 2 games. As for him looking fatigued, I would give him a rest for the home leg at PSV, bring him on if we are struggling.

Blacky you should be in the coaching set up!

TBH I think we all know what needs to be done next year. Maybe the lack of massive upheaval in the summer will help. Can only see a few top quality players coming in, as opposed to big changes within the squad.
                            Forwards.......

I still feel that the **** performances of Gerrard, Alonso, Carragher and Alonso at the start of the season enforced a/more rotation and b/premature introduction of certain players. At the start of the season it was hard to pick an eleven who deserved to start.
