Or LFC, possibly similar money, probably not more (new guys have more money but they're not stupid), possible league title challenge, possibly won the european cup this season, league where he's not certain to be suited, new language, worse climate, smaller stadium, worse attacking players around him (talking strikers and wingers here).

I just don't see it. Even if he's unhappy at Barca, he could go anywhere in the world. Why us?
Why? Are you a true believer or what? How about because LFC are the most successful english club in the world, with the worlds best fans, a giant of the game. Because the premier league is suppossed to to be the worlds best league, because its a challange, because if youre a top player you want to test yourself against the best and the toughest. They might be some of the reasons. Oh and new owners who see the potentail of making LFC the greatest and most powerful club in the world.

Crikey I'm glad you're not leading the negotiations.

Etoo is far fetched but I believe Barca is not capable of keeping him as he is quite unhappy with the racism problem there. I think that this racism problem will lead him to eventually leave Spain for either Italy or England.

I'd be absolutely over ther moon if we managed to sign either one of the two.

Me Too, but the only thing that bothers me about Eto`o is the African Nations Cup in January-February next year. Could we afford to lose him for those critical 4 weeks?

Or even Norway in My opinion

Valencia and Barca have sold big players before, for the right cash.

Figo and Ronaldo have left Barca. Mendieta and Kily Gonzales have left Valencia.

I could easily see Villa and Eto'o leaving in the summer and we probably could afford one of them. But will they come to LFC?

A win in the CL would help the negotiations go a little smoover..........

Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Don't get me wrong, I'd absolutely love to see Eto'o in a red shirt. I just can't see his reasons looking at this objectively.

                        1. LFC are the most successful English Club.
True, but then Barca are one of the two biggest clubs in the world.

                        2. The worlds best fans
Again a good point, but for me, secondary to all the others. Would you move solely on how good the fans were at a club?

                        3. Worlds best league
Arguable, and in any case La Liga would be occupying the other of the top 2 places on most peoples list.

                        4. Testing yourself against the best and the toughest, the challenge
The best reason. Fact is, I don't know enough about his personality to say whether this would be a big enough motivating factor for him or not, and I doubt many of us could. On the other hand, if this is what he wants, Chelsea and United are in the market for a new striker, so it wouldn't necessarily be a straight choice between us and Barca.

All I'm saying is that I can see a lot of reasons that he wouldn't come, and a few why he would, all of which have other factors to take into account. I'm not a pessimist, but I also refuse to get myself worked up into a frenzy over potential superstar signings, when I see so many possible reasons for it not to happen.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Nowt wrong with being objective but if you can't see why a top player would want to sign for us then you can't have a very high opinion of the team you support.

I'd have thought it pretty obvious why Eto'o might want to sign for us.
