A question about Mascherano's transfer

    A question about Mascherano's transfer

    There was some strange thing that happened with him and Tevez when they signed for West Ham.
    If memory serves me correct, West Ham never bought them, but the company that owns (owned) them (MSI, I think) brokered a deal to take them to Upton Park.

    JM then signed for us for 18 months (I think), but do we officially own him, or do this MSI company still have something to do with it/him.

    He has so far seemed a brilliant signing for us, and I would hate his chances of signing longer term for us to be affected by another party.

    Can anyone shed any light on all of this?

    We paid 1.8 million to loan him for 18 months with an option to buy after for 10 million I think. He has nothing to do with MSI company at the moment, but we dont own him either

      No - his registration is owned by MSI - they are the ones we gave the 1.5 mil to and the ones we will have tobuy his contract from if we decide to keep him , which I hope we do.

        That would be illegal as no third party is allowed to own a player playing in the Premiership.

        Only one that can own him must be West Ham or we will be in trouble

          It's all very complicated...but at least we got UEFA and FA clearance before finalising the current deal

              your wrong....the only one that can own him is us! and from what i gathered we have already paid the ten mill for his contract...i think that originally we were after him on loan but due to the irregularities we had to fork out to buy him instead....dont know where we got the cash from or if the payment was deferred until the end of the season, but I do know that msi CANNOT own his contract if hes now playing for us. And due to the time spent by the f.a and uefa when he arrived id guess that we have done everything spot on.
              is there any news on this subject on the official site?

                We have signed him on an 18 month contract and we have first option to sign him after that. If we don't do that then MSI have first option to sign him.

                We own 100% of his contract until summer 2008 and that's the most important thing.
                Just believe and you never know what will happen.

                According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

                  The way I understand it is that we have bought his contract from MSI for £1.5m , however under the terms of the sale his contract would automatically revert back to MSI after 18 months unless we take up our option of a £10m buy.

                  Even that sounds dodgy though because it's tantamount to slavery , he should be free to do what he wants after his contract ends

                    that was my understaning. I think MSI own him and loan him out to teams (ie conrinthians and West Ham before us). But if we can get him next year for 10mill then that will be a quality deal.

                        That is my understanding as it was the only way he would be allowed to play in the PL. Not sure that 10 Mill is correct figure tho have also seen 16 Mill quoted.
