Liverpool boss Benitez can land Real Madrid's Raul on cheap

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez could be given the chance to sign Real Madrid captain Raul on the cheap in the summer.
DiarioSport says Real president Ramon Calderon and sports director Pedja Mijatovic are seriously considering bringing down the curtain on Raul's time at the club.
Having added youngsters Gonzalo Higuain, Fernando Gago and Marcelo in January, Calderon wants to continue overhauling the current squad over the summer and is weighing up showing the club captain the door.
Raul still has three years left on his contract, but admitted earlier this season that he would only stay with Real for "as long as they want me". Like the striker, Calderon is also anxious to avoid any controversy should he decide time's up and would be prepared to smooth his move away by asking only a nominal fee for the 29 year-old.
Raul has been a regular visitor to Anfield since Benitez's appointment and the Liverpool manager remains a big fan of the Spanish star. The chance to work with one of his country's modern day greats would be difficult for Benitez to pass up - particularly should Calderon be reasonable on the price.
