he would be a massive gamble he seems to have an ego and i doubt whether he would take kindly to warming a bench. pace of the league probably wouldn't suit him either however he still has a touch of class about him and is a good finisher, iv'e got a funny feeling rafa would do something strange and buy him!

Fowler and Gary Mac are obvious exceptions but as a rule I'm not in favour of taking players of that age although I'm surprised to learn he's only 29. I thought he was older. He was quality in his day but like Shevchenko at Chelsea he does seem to be on the wane.
A serious question: Would you take Thierry for the next 3/4 years @ £100,000+ a week?

What a statement of intent his signing would make......... He would be top class, but so would Villa, Torres and Eto'o
          Forwards.......

Don't you think there are slight indications that he's soon not going to be quite the player he used to be?

Well he's certainly not getting better, but if all the strikers in the prem where fully fit and I had to take one player for a one off game, that player would be Henry.

And I would say that even those who argue that point would put him in the top 3. £30m is very expensive, but he'd be our best bet of winning the title next season, and that would be £30m well spent if he brought the premier league home.

                  No thanks to Raul.
I rather sign Portilio from Gimnastic. Younger and far better.

No. But it all depends on whos available, and who they want to join. The mancs want a striker, Chelsea are always in the running, Juve are back, AC and Inter want to improve, Barca and Real can't be discounted either.

The buying clubs aren't holding the aces this year.

Yeah you're right there. Perhaps this summer wasn't the best time for Rafa to get a bit of cash. Anyone who moves this summer is likely, as u point out, to be the subject of a 3, 4 or even 5 club scramble.

I hold out we'll be high on the agenda however:

Eto'o: Rafa was his youth coach at Real and the comments are flattering. No bridges burned there.

Villa: Mates at our club and we are very much spanglish, which would also help with Torres.

Henry: We all know his past comments.

Another is our European cup pedigree. Most foreigners care more for European glory than domestic. Remember GH saying how Stevie and Mickey classed the FA cup as their fave trophy whilst he prefered the UEFA. The new owners and stadium on the horizon will also go along way. And of course, we can pay the top wages now............
                            Forwards.......

He's not good enough for us anymore. I'd take robinho ahead of him.

Ahead of Torres yes, but Eto'o and Villa no. They are 2 strikers still on the up, whereas Torres still has question marks and the only way for Henry seems down, although you could argue thats due to the massively high standards he's set for himself. But he does seem to pick up niggly injuries and I know he frustrates the **** out of a lot of gooners, being the leader of their ridiculous trying-to-walk-the-ball-in antics
