Goalkeeper Scott Carson has joined Premiership rivals Charlton Athletic on loan until the end of the season.
The England Under-21 international spent the final three months of last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, and was then called up into the England squad for the World Cup Finals.
Carson has played nine first team games for Liverpool so far since he arrived at Anfield from Luton Town in January 2005.
We now have two experienced keepers for the new season, with a talented young back off on loan getting good experience and off the wage bill for a season or two.
Id rather have got Dudek off the wage bill and got some money coming in.
I think it's a good move to be honest. Dudek has a a lot of experience, which we need as cover. We obvioulsy couldn't get rid of him either. Keep him for a year while the young lad carson gets some much needed experience instead of just sitting on our bench.
Bring him back next year, and hopefully somebody will want Dudek by then.
Means that Dudek is staying on though which is strange - hasn't he said he wasn't happy to stay as no. 2 keeper having cost him his international place?
At a football club there's a holy trinity- the players the manager and the supporters, Directors dont come into it, they are only there to sign the cheques " - Bill Shankly
dudek has had a couple of clangers which he will never be allowed to forget but he is still a class keeper.his first season he was outstanding.
very very good back up imo.
