Fitness wise I can’t see him going from a reserve match on the 10th to a Champions League semi final on the 24th/25th.

don't see why not tbh, depends on the particular player of course, maybe the second leg if we need him would be more realistic

Alonso played against Juve without playing any reserve team match at all and he had been out injured a long time.

Rafa is full of surprises. Maybe Kewell is fitter than we think he is.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

There's a big difference between their injuries though. Alonso had only been out for 4 months or so, Kewell has been out since last summer.

That is it. It's dual purpose.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez believes Harry Kewell may play against Wigan in two weeks' time.

Kewell is yet to kick a ball for The Reds this term after injuring himself at last summer's World Cup in Germany.

However, the ex-Leeds ace is back in training and Benitez believes he may be ready to make his first-team return against Wigan on 21st April.

"He's back in training," Benitez said in the Daily Star Sunday.

"But when you've been injured for a long time and you start working hard you get tired and need rest.

"He's close but how close? We'll need to see him playing in some small games first.

"Then after that we'll need to see him play eleven-a-sides.

"He will play again this season, though. Maybe in two weeks' time."

Even a half-fit Kewell would be better than Gonzalez.

                  I'm glad he's (nearly) back.

I'd stick with Gonzo till the end of the season in the league, and Riise at LM for Europe (esp away). Kewell only if we need him in Europe. Gonzo has more of a future with us, he needs playing time. Kewell's had his chance. Having said that - if we need goals in CL Semi at home I think I'd have to go for Kewell's experience.

If we get to Athens and Kewell is fit, it will be really interesting to see who Rafa picks at LM. Even moreso had Aurelio been fit.

Funny how he always seems to be determined to get fit every time we have a big final coming up

                          hmmmm

He's a nice lad, but i really hope he doesnt get back into the team this season. Were doing just fine without him. He could only fvck it up as usual

Gonzales is still adapting and has more pace than Harry Kewell. I agree though that skillwise, there aren't many players better than Barry on his day.

Gonzalez is a second rate footballer mate.

He'll be playing for a midtable La Liga side sooner rather than later.

Bit harsh that. Remember Peter Crouch ?
