    Completely useless random fact time...

Alvaro Arbeloa became the first Liverpool player to score while wearing the number 2 shirt since the Premiership began.

No Liverpool player had scored while wearing the number 2 shirt since Mike Marsh in the old First Division. Once squad numbers were allocated at the start of the Premier League the number 2 shirt has become a jinx.

First to have 2 as a squad number was Rob Jones whose inability to threaten the opposition goalkeeper became a bit of an in-joke. Once Jones left for West Ham Stephane Henchoz took over the number 2 shirt.

Henchoz did score in a penalty shoot out for the Reds and scored in a pre-season friendly against Celtic soon after Rafa Benitez had taken charge of the Reds, but in competitive action the jinx ruled.

Jan Kromkamp wore the number 2 shirt last season and despite the odd appearance in midfield as well as in defence, he failed to score for the Reds.

Hopes weren't high for Arbeloa once his squad number was allocated but the Spaniard has ended the jinx in only his second Premiership start for the Reds. Let's hope it's the first of many.

I apologise in advance. I'm that bored.

My son Foster is a fan of soccer. He was a goaltender. His brother was a defenseman.

And he scored from the left back position. Must be a curse for the right back slot then.

Can't remember a right back scoring during the past ten or so years mate. Rob Jones didn't score, as well as Jamie and Steve Finnan ... Not mentioning the likes of Xavier and Josemi.

Yep both of those have, plus we can add Babbel and I think Carra too

Yeah, remember Heggem scoring a cracking goal at the Anfield Road end. That was some 10 years or so ago.

He joined us in '98 and went on to score 3 goals for us

I'm hard pushed to think of RBs who haven't scored for us in the last ten years

Abel Xavier Scored on his debut against Ipswich (I'm sure it was deflected), Jason McAteer scored fdrom the RB position, Vegard Heggem scored a few goals and he scored against Middlesborough on 2 seperate occasions (one of which was a cracking solo effort), Carra never scored from the RB position, Babbell scored a fair few goals too -most of them being crucial strikes from the RB position

It was last year against Fulham at home, a Henry-que goal. Long ball from Gerrard or Alonso (can't remember who), he killed the ball with his first touch, nutmeg the defender, and calmly slotted past Warner at his near-post. It was real classy. Finnan

West Brom. 2004-05. Won 3-0. I was in the Kop and unsuccessfully tried to start a Steve Finnan chant off the back of it. He should have scored in that Fulham game though, you're probably thinking of Warnock, he scored then.
