How come G.H. didn't come running to Rafa and snap up his "gems", the next Zidane, EHD, etc? Did he even make an enquiry about the ones we were giving away for free? Surely they weren't all total cr*p ?!

For the same reason he didn't try and buy Josemi, Nunez, Morientes or Pellegrino - they're ****.

He admitted that EHD was a disaster and a huge disappointment.

It would be nice to see some appreciation of great players that he did bring to the club, and nurture.

Looking at it from GH's point of view now though, he signed those players and they were failures...he knows it himself so why would he buy them again. Cisse was an amazing success at Auxerre and so he would have chased him, but wouldnt have paid the same amount of money.

The fact that the players "were all being chased by the top top clubs in europe and we beat them" doesn't vindicate Houllier from the criticisms regarding his transfer dealings from 2002-2004.

As much as Houllier made some excellent signings in his first two years as well as building the foundations of our current success, he is also to blame for some terrible signings. No one can deny that.
