    Adam Hammill

    From the Ofal:

Adam Hammill is aiming to emulate Zinedine Zidane when he walks out for Dunfermline in the Tennent's Scottish Cup semi-finals this weekend. The Liverpool youngster, on loan at the Scottish side until the end of the season, will play the biggest game of his fledgling career against Hibernian at Hampden Park on Sunday.

And he admits he can't help thinking about the famous goal Zidane scored there in the Champions League final.

"I know there are a few people coming to watch me on Sunday," said Hammill. "Hampden is the biggest stage in Scottish football so if I show that I can deliver there, then I can definitely do it in England.

"I remember Zinedine Zidane's goal at Hampden in the Champions League final a few years ago. Zidane was an idol of mine, so to be able to play on the same pitch is tremendous.

"I've never been there, but I know it's a big playing surface. Hopefully, that might suit me in terms of getting the ball down and running at defenders."

The 19-year-old has played a key part in keeping alive Dunfermline's dream of remaining in the top flight. And Hammill revealed his impressive form has been motivated in part by memories of last year's FA Cup final in Cardiff.

"I was one of the reserves who travelled to Cardiff with some of the backroom staff from the club, and then I met up with my friends and family to watch the game.

"It was a great experience for me to be there, magical really, because I'm a massive Reds fan. There was a party afterwards and I was in there with all the first-team lads, sharing in what I hoped would be a taste of things to come for me. I looked at it all and thought: That's where I want to be.

"I've trained with the Liverpool first-team squad a few times and think I gave a good account of myself. Personally, I feel I can play at that standard, but it is all about gaining experience and know-how.

"To come out on loan to a club such as Dunfermline has helped me a hell of a lot. I've loved every minute and I'm so grateful to Stephen Kenny for giving me the chance. I've learned a lot about the competitive side of football and the physical elements, too. I've had lumps kicked out of me.

"It's also about playing in front of crowds and being able to handle that. Sunday will be the biggest yet and there are two ways it can go. Some people might let it pass them by, but I'm not like that. As soon as the whistle goes, I'll have the blinkers on."
    --------------------------------------------------

Looking forward to this guy doing a full pre-season with us.
Hopefully he's progressed enough on loan to be getting a few first team games next year.

We desperately need to deflate the hype surrounding this kid.

Last time we all got excited about a 'talnted winger' out on loan was Mark Gonzalez and we all know how he turned out....****.

I know a dunfermline ST holder. He reckons he's good, but not quite ready for the first team at Liverpool. In fact he needs another full season in the SPL to toughen up. Seriously though, he's too cocky and while that will look good up here, he's a fair bit to go before he's ready for us IMO.

I'd like to see him go on loan to an English team for three months.

I wouldn't be averse to that at all. Ideally I'd like to see him do a pre-season with the first team before heading out to a decent Championship or a PL side though.

I think if we loan him out we have to give him half a season at a decent level. Either a top half championship or a decent Premiership club. There are very few teams who would suit him in the PL. I'm not sure he would benefit from the style or setup of many of the bottom half teams.

              Bang on there mate.

A season at say, a poor team who comes up via the play offs in the championship would be good. He's hardly gonna get games at LFC next season early on, so what else can you do.

BUT. He must be loaned to a club that will class him as first choice. May as well be in our Rezzies than anyone elses, and that goes for all the others too.

On a slight diversion, Danny Guthrie looks ready for a lower placed prem team.
              Forwards.......

Rafa has changed the way we loan players out, they must play if fit or face a financial penalty otherwise.

                    that is so cool.
                    For us
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                    * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

I think at his age he would benifit more playing for a top level championship team that plays attacking football than a team struggling to survive in the PL.

Can work both ways, but he's done ok scrapping it out in Scotland, so lets stick him in at the deep end. Teaches them alot as they realise what it means for a small club to play the top teams.

The again, in your scenario he learns how to break down teams that go to defend. Guess it all depends on who wants him.
