    Alves:On Revista

Alves just been interviewed on Revista

Barca is in the box-seat for his signing

He said in the interview, essentially, that he would have been a Liverpool player now, if Sevilla and Liverpool had agreed a fee.
    We need better attacking players!

You win some you lose some.

I'm a big fan of our current right back though. He may not have a fancy Brazilian name or command a massive price tag, but there's none better.
Dreams come true. Without that possibility, nature would not incite us to have them.

      I agree mate.
I watch a fair bit of Spanish footie on Sky & Alves has never overly impressed me to be honest. Obviously he's a decent player but I don't see it as a major problem if we don't get him, plenty more fish in the sea.

Alves was overpriced at the £14million Sevilla were trying to get out of us and he'll be even more expensive this summer. I think we've missed the boat on that one but we move on. I'm sure there'll be other players equally as good if not better that Rafa has in mind.

As jonesie says "you win some you lose some."

What the hell are Barca going to do with him?

More to the point, what will they do with Zambrotta, Belletti and Oleguer?

I never said they weren't mate!

Just seems strange for Barca to be splashing the cash on him thats all.

This only confirms that he will move to us if we pay what they want.
Barca have first option on him but if we pay what Sevilla want then he will move to us. It's still about if we pay the asking price and I think we can afford that now.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Surely it's about whether Barca want him or not in the first instance. Then, and only then, is it down to wether we will pay the asking price.

                      Wrong. It doesn't confirm anything.
He was giving an interview a few months before the transfer window opens.
                      They are just words.

Barcas first option isn't worth anything if Alves want a move to another club. First option isn't really worth that much because it's still down to the player even if the club that have first option want to sign the player.

I have not heard the interview so I don't know what he said about Barca.

It more or less confirms that Sevilla will sell him in the summer.

Yeah and according to a post above, he said Barca are in the box seat.

They are in the box seat because they have first option on him so they can match any other bid for him.

                              Box seat=First Option.

The only two things this interview confirms IMO is that Barca have first option and that Alves will leave in the summer.

We will see what club he plays for next season.
