    Rafas tactics on Saturday

    1 up front against Citeh?

No goals in the second half and he takes off Risse for Gonzales...understandable, a bit of pace up both wings now they're tiring...10 minutes later brings Pennant off for Crouch...surely Masher or Alonso (on a yellow) should've gone?

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Playing against a team that hadn't scored at home since Christmas I would hardly have been surprised to see Rafa start with a 3 4 3 formation TBH and go for the juggler vein early on.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Since we only have two fit forwards I think Rafa was protecting them so we wouldn´t be going into the Chelsea game with only one fit. We might see the same formation against Boro IMO. This is very understandable IMO and I would do the same. Fowler was injured and he if he´s fit I hope to see him but he´s on a very steep downward spiral though.
      * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I watched the game on RTE and it was dire. It reminded me of some the Premiership games we had towards the end of the 2004/5 season when we were progressing in the Champions League but bafflingly rubbish domestically so I hope that is a good omen!!

Its understandable then, but if that was the case, I would've swapped Crouch for Kuyt and still taken either Masher or Alonso off to make way for 2 natural wingers. It was Citeh afterall.

Two holding midfielders just does not work in the Prem. You need to be more attack minded. That is why teams can sit back and let us try to get behind them.

We have two very important games againts Chelsea understandly Rafa wants to keep his players fresh and he wanted to rest Crouch, who had started last four games. Bellamy and Fowler both injured, only option was to play one player up front.
