More Raul guff, but an interesting bit at the end...

    RAUL WANTS REAL ANSWERS

Raul has demanded that Real Madrid give him assurances over his future at the club after stories linking him with a move to Liverpool surfaced.

The Spanish international striker admitted that he wants to stay at the Bernabeu but the stories in the Spanish and English newspapers have clearly unsettled him.

In his 13th season in the Madrid first-team Raul has played regularly under Fabio Capello, but has been forced to drop back into midfield in many matches and that has led to speculation that he is unhappy.

Rafa Benitez is said to be watching the situation and could be preparing to make the 29-year-old part of his Spanish contingency at Anfield.

Such reports have forced Raul to go public and demand that the Madrid board let him know whether he is part of the club's rebuilding programme in the summer.

"I would like them to tell which of the two things it true," Raul told a news conference. "They could tell me whether they want me to stay or are opening the doors for me to go.

"But the club has not said anything.

"I am remaining calm and have three years left on my contract and I do not know where these stories are coming from.

"My plan and my contract says that I am staying with Real Madrid.

"I do not understand the rumours. I think they must come from someone who has an interest in seeing me leave, but there is no problem with the club because they have not said anything to me."

Liverpool have already tied up a deal that will see Bayer Leverkusen striker Andrei Voronin join on a free transfer in the summer, but Benitez continues to be linked with a range of strikers with Reggina's Rolando Bianchi now joining the list.

Reports in Italy claim that The Reds have been scouting the 13-goal striker who could cost around €15million (£10.2million).

Raul must be a good player, his CL goal record is brilliant. however, I don't think i've ever seen him have a good game. Should we go after him. On the face of it, he would appear to be exactly the sort of player who'd struggle in England with the physical side of the game. However, it wouldn't surprise me if Rafa went in for him though.

Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Seriously? You surprise me. Thought you'd be dead against it, especially after the Morientes debacle.

I know it doesn't make much, if any rational sense.

There are very, very few players in the world I would 'make an exception' for, Raul is one of them.

In his prime he was one of the most gifted footballers on the planet. He's only 29/30 now for ****s sake. Hardly 'past it' is he ? He remains the all time top scorer the European Cup! Think about it, that's an almighty achievement...

Let's take Ronaldo for example. Fat, lazy and **** in his last year or two at Madrid, then he moved to Milan and by all accounts he has transformed as a player. He scored a ****ing screamer the other week.

Sometimes players just need a complete change and a fresh start.

I'll say it again, I'd simply love to see Raul walking out at Anfield on a European night.

I think he'd be a massive hit here.

                              He's past it.
