Correct.Originally posted by disco View PostI don't think that's the case any more
The CL title-holder is guaranteed a place in the group stage even if it does not qualify for the competition through its domestic championship
- if the title-holder comes from an association entitled to more than 1 place in the CL and qualifies for the CL through its domestic competitions, the lowest ranked club of the association's CL representatives is automatically transferred to the UEFA Cup. In this case, the number of places to which the national association is entitled in the CL and the UEFA Cup does not change.

Disco, what do you mean by "the TH?"Originally posted by disco View PostActually, the TH goes through to the group stages automatically as do the top 2 teams in England.
If we finish second I know that the 10th ranked country gain a place, but if we finish third I suspect all 3 teams would go straight to the group stages

Do you mean Title holder?

you suspect? I dont see it written anywhere.Originally posted by disco View PostI don't think that's the case any more
Im almost 100% sure it was changed after we won that the winners take the automatic qualifying place and second has to then qualify.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

No, the 1st and 2nd placed teams are qualified automatically as well as the title holders if outside the top 2.Originally posted by bazza76 View Postyou suspect? I dont see it written anywhere.

where does it say this?Originally posted by fredo View PostNo, the 1st and 2nd placed teams are qualified automatically as well as the title holders if outside the top 2.
The way I thought it was would be like this if we won, for arguements sake.
LFC (qualify automatically as winners & 3rd or 4th in the league)
Chavs (qualify automatically as league holders)
Man u (qualify via playoff for finishing 2nd in the league)
Arsenal (qualify via play off for finishing 3rd or 4th in the league)
I may be wrong, but I am positive that was the way things were, unless they were changed recently, to which I can see no text.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:

Your quote doesn't answer the question though. We know fourth place would go to the UEFA Cup, but the question is who will have to go through the qualification round in August. I'm pretty sure that the winners of the competition are the top qualifier, bumping first place to second qualifier, and the two remaining teams then have to qualify for the group stages.Originally posted by Maestro View PostGuys, just read the text I quoted above - article 1.03 of the UEFA doc that Disco linked to.
