    Rafael van der Vaart anyone?

Van der Vaart hints at exit
By Chris Ives - Created on 20 Apr 2007

Hamburg captain Rafael van der Vaart has hinted that he may not fulfill his current contract at the AOL Arena.

The Dutch international midfielder is currently tied to the Bundesliga outfit until 2010, but several top European clubs are thought to be watching his situation after a turbulent season that has seen the Rothosen battling relegation.

"One should never say 'never' in this business - things can happen extremely quickly," Van der Vaart said in an interview with Die Welt.

"I cannot stand here now and say that I'll definitely be staying in Hamburg. What would I do if my dream club suddenly came to me with a great offer?"

Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld and president Franz Beckenbauer have both expressed their admiration for the 24-year-old in recent interviews, but Van der Vaart denies that the Bavarian giants are a reason for his comments.

"There has been absolutely no contact to FC Bayern," he said.

4 or 5 years ago, he was better than Robben is now. Then he went through a season of ****eness, and went to Hamburg and inspire them to the top 5 spots, was then made the captain.

If his mate Alessandro D'Alessandro'D'Alessandro can do well in the premiership, he might be a good catch. 8-10 million pounds? Would fit in the 'hole' well, and compete with L'il Luis.

Yes, it does seem unbelievable. He hit the headlines when he was only 18.

Just like Stevie. He's been around for almost decade now, and still only 27.

He would be a good replacement if Kewell leaves.

He is like Kewell before his injuries.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

looks like he has refound himself at Hamburg. The guy had a rough time at Ajax (think his Missus is some sort of tv celeb and there was a lot of media interest in them and the crowd also turned on him)

If the price wasnt extorinate then it would be worth a punt on him.

He's been a revelation at Hamburg. I'd be happy to see him at Anfield at the right price.
