I have a funny that Kromkamp will be with us, until Jan at least.

Cannot see Rafa being given much more funds until after we have hopefully qaulified for the Champions League proper.
However we now have the biggest squad we have had in many many years, and I think Rafa will be focusing on getting shot of Le Tallec, Diao and FSP (and possibly Warnock) before Kromkamp.

We also now have an abundance of left sided players....Kewell, Zenden (although he'll be given a more central role, he is still essentially a left sided player), Riise, Gonzo, Aurelio and Warnock.

My fear, and worst case scenario is that if Kromkamp were to leave, we could see Diao deputising at right back on the odd occasion.

Diao will never play first team football again. JC can play right back and Paletta/Agger can come into the middle. Paletta played there pre-season didnt he? looked a bit exposed though.

I must be the only one here that thinks Kromkamp looks a really good player.

Defensively he might not be up to Finnan's level, but going forward he's good on the ball, pretty swift and attacks players.

I could see him nicking the RB spot from Finnan, if Finnan's performances even slightly dropped.

Of course, if Kromkamp is badly home sick then let him go back to the Netherlands.

If Kromkamp leaves, I'd be surprised if Rafa didn't have someone lined up, maybe getting them in during the January window if not this one.

I'm not sure if Rafa has complete faith in Finnan either. I remember reading something a while back about that and he even got Josemi in as a replacement. He's been very consistent the last two seasons though.

Yeah, when Josemi arrived there were major rumours that Finnan was off to Spurs for a mere 2m, and that only injury prevented this from happening.

Thankfully Finnan settled in, and in the last 2 years has been brilliant. Personally I would not swap him for any other RB in the premiership.

I think Rafa has total confidence faith and ability in him now, and would not even think of getting rid of Stevie F

I've been thinking that. For me, Finnan is amongst if not the best right back in the country, but i'm not sure he's the player Rafa wants for that position. He's a great defender and IMO he's good attacking. But I think Rafa wants more of a Riise/Aurelio type full back, basically a Daniel Alves. I think that IF Alves ever does come to Anfield, he'll play as a right back and it wouldn't mean Pennants position is under threat from anyone but Stevie G on occassion
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

I agree but the jungle drums said that Alves was planned in to play Right Back not Right Midfield.

I agree, has never let us down. Looks very comfortable on the ball as well.

I like the look of Kromkamp but if he is unhappy andwith Finnan ahead of him unlikely to play I think he is unlikely to want to stay. I think despite his potential on the pitch, unless Rafa wants him to replace Finnan as first choice RB then it would be best if he left.

I guess this all depends on the rumours of him being homesick being true, but I see no reason to disbelieve them.
