How can you describe having a football brain?It's more on instincts and confidence.How many of us thought that Ronaldo would become the player he is today when he came along.He was a one trick pony who never knew when to pass the ball and the right time to try a trick.Same with Drogba.Look at Forlan,at man u he was ****e,he goes to spain and wins the golden boot.Morientes also,he didn't make it here yet in spain the guy is awesome.

My point is,when a player is played to his strengths,Cisse's is his pace and his finishing,he can only then prove himself.If he wasn't really given the chance to,through injury or lack of form,than imo,he can't be truly judged and considered a failure.

He has no idea about position. All the aforementioned players had a basic grounding in knowing how to play the midfield/forward role. In fact they are all good to great players. Cisse is not anywhere near that class.

Cisse is potentially one of the most frustrating players i've ever witnessed because he certainly has the body and speed to be really good, but instead he does the kind of thing 11 year olds do. Things like:

• Not putting himself in areas of availability when the team are penned in. There have been many examples of the defense being over-ran... Someone like Alonso looks up to play the ball forward to the striking outlet and 9/10 Cisse is standing shoulder-to-shoulder with a CB. I swear to god any player that does that with me on the pitch and they would get a ****ing lashing... he NEVER learnt though.
  
• You'd think with his pace he was tailor-made for playing in the channels, but alas he was hopeless. He has the pace, but simply hasn't the technique to do anything effective with the ball.
  
• Had no idea of how to hold the line.
  
• His finishing on paper actually is not too bad. But with the same technique of head down and blast it directly at the goalie would be found out rather quickly... and it has!
  
• If anything he should have been played where Owen was, but he never had that instinct Owen had, defenders read him like a book and no wonder, he's simply not clever enough to read the game.

Some players need to feel wanted,they need to have their managers backing,none of which cisse had.Therfore,he couldn't play to his full potential full of confidence.At Auxerre,his then manager had him in the team as the main man and built his team to his strengths,to which Cisse finished the leagues top scorer for the 2 seasons prior to his move to Liverpool.

Don't get me wrong,Auxerre and Liverpool are worlds apart,and at no point have i said that he was right for Liverpool,just that he doesn't deserve to be called names and be put down the way some on here have done so.

Under GH Cisse would have scored bundles of goals - hopefully GH will take him to Lyon and prove it. I remember from KT that you never had a good word to say about Cisse, seems time hasn't eased your pain over the £14m we lashed on him.

STUART PEARCE is ready to make a £3.5million summer swoop for Liverpool flop Djibril Cisse.

Manchester City boss Pearce has drawn up a hit-list of targets to boost his Eastlands squad, despite fears for his future due to the current takeover battle for the club. And he sees French striker Cisse as the man to end the club's goalscoring nightmare.

City have netted just 10 goals in 18 home league games this season - one short of Sunderland's all-time Premiership record.

With strikers Darius Vassell, Bernardo Corradi, Georgios Samaras, Paul Dickov and Emile Mpenza netting just 16 between them this term, Pearce is desperate to land Cisse.

The 25-year-old, who cost Liverpool £14m from Auxerre three years ago, is due back at Anfield this summer after spending the season on loan at French outfit Marseille.

To be fair it is hard for a player to hold his value after two broken lags which was, I think most would agree, not easy to predict.

He seems to be getting amongst the goals again now. I think we will get £5m ish for him in the end. I can see a lot of people thinking that he could do a job for that sort of money.

Cisse might be a **** player for us but he'd do quite well for a mid-table team whose game doesn't have such a huge emphasis on tactical/positional awareness and team play. At £5-6m he'd be a decent signing for any number of Premiership clubs.
