Can't play Pennant on the left, all he would do is cut in. He is very one footed. I would rather have played SG on the left and PEnnant on the right.
But this is away, so I understand Rafa being cautious.
But I don't get why Crouch is not in there.

Certainly not mate but I'm less confident. Zenden's main weaknesses are lack of pace and poor passing. If he played him at home for the return leg with one or two goals to spare I'd be accepting it. Not now, as we need to make a difference here.

Hes picked Zenden because he's an older more experienced player, just what you need for this type of game game. Plus he's not that bad a player, his time at Liverpool has been jinxed by injuries, when has he ever had a chance to establish some form.

A perfect time to start him then, Champions League semi-final and all... let him find his form against Pompey! I am withholding judgement, but his presence makes me nervous. As long as he plays a strong defensive game, I will be happy. If he starts trying to be Luis with the flicks and bad touches, I will be unhappy. His game to prove himself.
