Echo the thoughts that Agger must play next week. Agree he didn't play well last night but the whole defence was shaky - Arbeloa had a mare, Carra looked out of sorts and Riise was his usual self

If Sami had been in the same position as Agger last night, Dogbreath would have skinned him for space and probably run in on goal himself

That said I was praying that Rafa would send on Paletta for he last couple of minutes to "do" the diving fcuker
At a football club there's a holy trinity- the players the manager and the supporters, Directors dont come into it, they are only there to sign the cheques " - Bill Shankly

I don't think Sami should start the second leg.

Drogba's strength and pace combined would ruin us at the back then, and the game next Tuesday will surely be similar to last night's second half where they tried to hit us on the break after us having the majority of the possession. Sami just wouldn't be able to cope with Drogba's movement, and if they hit it down the channels as they did on occasions last night Sami wouldn't be able to get near him.

Ok, he may cope better with the high ball, but once they then change it to the channels we'd be in big trouble. At least Agger and Carra have a little pace between them to cope, we just need to stop Drogba turning and hold off a little instead of being up his arse looking for the physical stuff, which he loves. Give him half a yard to make him think what to do with it when he has his back to goal and be sharp on our toes, and not tight behind him like last night which he loved - once he out-muscled us there he was off (if we hold off him a bit then a quick burst when he turns should give us the edge without having to battle hard at keep pace with him afterwards).

Carra and Agger is the way forward again in my opinion.

No. If we were in front and planning to sit deep and counter then yes, but we're chasing the game, Hyypia would be exposed. Drogba will always win headers for them, we need to be better placed to limit his options and win the ball after it hits his bonce.

Didnt Drogba destroy him as well in a few games.

Agger will work on trying to defend him, he's got to be street wise. I have to give Agger credit i would of lost the plot with him with all his diving and acting, i dont think Agger got a yellow card did he?

If Finnan hasn't recovered by then, I'd be tempted to play Agger at LB and bring in Sami, maybe.

Otherwise I'd keep the faith, hopefully he'll use last night as a learning experience

Agger got manhandled yesterday. There is no point pretending. Anyway, what happend yesterday is one of Aggers blind spots. I have seen it before a few times in other games as well.

Spain Vs Denmark March 24 2007.

See how he slides after Mori makes the move? Same as he did yesterday.

Have to admit, I was thinking that during the game yesterday. Droghba gave Agger an awful time.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

You mean when he was ill? He hadn't eaten for 3 days and spent all half time throwing up!

Would still stick with Dan tho

The illness was coincidental, for me. Even if he'd been on Vicks for a fortnight and cleared his stuffy nose, he'd have struggled.

                        Agreed

And how Agger had Drogba in his pocket earlier in the season, albeit the CS.

He should have played last night. We were sitting deep so there was no room in behind for him to expose Hyypia's lack of pace. Agger was raped by DD last night and just couldn't handle him.

In the next leg though, we will be all guns blazing and if we play Big Sami, I fear Drogba on the counter. In saying that though, it was Agger who was done on the counter by him yesterday, but Sami's lack of pace would be a major problem at Anfield me thinks.

Agger wasn't at his best and Drogba was on fire.

Drogba can be unstoppable at times - and he showed why last night.

Strong, fast, direct, diving, niggling, in your face, upset your rythmn. All classic Drogba. Hopefully he wont be on fire next week.

I bet you couldn't play 90 minutes with a serious stomach infection
