How we missed him last night! this match was made for him.
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers and you will know my name is The Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee. EXCLUSIVE! Liverpool midfielder Luis Garcia has started running after his knee operation and expects to be back playing in August.
The Spain international has been out since suffering ruptured ligaments in his right knee during Liverpool's 6-3 Carling Cup loss to Arsenal in January but underwent a successful operation at Clinica El Pilar in Barcelona and is raring to go for the new season.
"The operation turned out to be a total success and I'm back training already," Luis Garcia told eurosport.com. "I should be back by August."
The player, 28, has been a revelation in the Champions League for Liverpool and was instrumental in their winning run in 2004/5, so it has been tough for him to miss the big games this time out.
"It's been really boring, to be honest, frustrating" he continued. "Watching the lads play, especially against [former club] Barcelona, has not been easy.
"But I'm running hard now and will be playing in August, I'm sure of that."
Australia midfielder Harry Kewell, meanwhile, is back in full training after missing the whole of the season with septic arthritis and could even feature in their run-in.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
I've said it before and I'll say it again now, WE MISS GARCIA BIG TIME, AND ESPECIALLY IN CL GAMES LIKE LAST NIGHT'S!!!
He offers us that unperdictability, and that link between midfield and the strikers, and he often pops up in the right position to score that crucial goal for us in the really big European games.
He'd have had a field day out wide last night! Hurry back Luis!!
Say what you like Garcia but he was instumental in both our 'big' wins against the Chavs. He scored in both the CL tie and in the FA Semi.
Luxury player but then again, when it gets to the cream of europe, it's normally the best players that make the difference (ref: Kaka and Rooney from the Old Toilet match).
I think it 75-25 for the Chavs but maybe Stevie G will showcase his talents one more time!
