Masherano is one yellow away from being suspended for the final as is Pennant. I expect Fowler, Bellamy, Momo, Sami, Dudek, Paletta, Masher and Arbeloa to start at least. I expect SG to move inside for Tuesday with Alonso. Also Pennant and Gonzo to start on Tuesday with Crouch and Kuyt up front.

Because I don't think he'll play against Chelsea for that reason and also the fact that SG will start inside.....so that leaves him spare for today.

hmm, I'm not sure that'll have too much bearing on rafa's plans at this stage, being in the position we're in i think he'll play the team he thinks can get us the win regardless of yellows

I don't think Rafa will think about the bookings for the Chelsea game. He'll just pick the team he thinks will have the best chance of winning. Whether that includes Mascherano or Pennant remains to be seen, but I can't see them being left out of a semi-final just because they might miss the final. We've got to get there first!

Not sure Rafa will risk Gerrard & Alonso in the middle against Chelsea. We can't afford to leave too much space in the middle, as what often happens when both play in the centre (Gerrad being the one at fault). The Milan game springs to mind!! Has Rafa paired Alonso and Gerrard together against a top team since that game? I pretty much doubt it.
