    Rafa's kids

Anyone notice how he gave the foreigners a game yesterday.
Ive nothing at all against them, it just struck me as a bit strange though, as I was under the impression from reading reserve match reports that there has been better performances from the english youth players, would it be because they could become unsettled quicker because of their country of origin? I just expected a couple fo the English players to get a chance. Any thoughts?
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Youth cup final was on Thurs so thats probably why none of them got a chance.

When we signed Insua, it was claimed he was going to be battling for a place by the season come to an end. Perhaps Rafa was interested if he could even be a surprise from the bench on Tues and wanted to measure him at a higher level? As for Paletta, he undoubtedly wants to see what this lad can (or can't!) do - so what better time in a game we can afford to lose? I don't see what academy players are close to breaking through. There are a couple of english lads in the ressies (like Hobbs and Anderson), but they're also Rafa's buys.

Id love to see Anderson getting a run out at some point, his performances for the reserves have improved of late after a slow start this season, Hobbs aswell. I guess looking at it again, it may be just co-incidence that they were all foreign that started against pompey. Is Rafa also safeguarding against the fact that no young foreigners will want to come if they see the ones we are bringing in dont get a chance?.

'cos the decent reserve players either played in the youth cup or are out on loan. Hammill and Guthrie would have featured (as they already have) were they available.

No ulterior motives or conspiracy theories here, I'm afraid.
