    Paul Anderson

Anyone know what's happening with him? I'd have thought that at SOME stage this season, he might've had a chance to play, but nothing.

Is he even still with us? Out on loan?

    Not heard a whimper.

Currently playing for the reserves, was supposedly out with an injury for the better part of the season, but have heard from some quarters that he was having some attitude problems. Looks to be all sorted now anyway, he came back last month and has put in a couple of mom performances.

Good to hear he's recovered and sorted the attitude issues.

Hopefully he might make a breakthrough next season at some point.

      Cheers for the info.

Paul Anderson has been piss poor this season for the reserves - but as mentioned above, he has improved in the last months or so. The guy is lightning quick and relies on his pace to get past people. This factor and also the fact he's lightweight means I doubt he's gonna make it

What about the fact, that when he is playing well he is an excellent crosser of the ball and has a real eye for goal. He probably is the one out of the lot of them "at one stage" who I thought would make it. I still think it's too early to write him off, hopefully he improves enough to atleast get an aouting before the season ends.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

            * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

I read something by Ablett which suggested he wasn't mentally strong enough to make the step up, yet (hopefully)!

He'll end up like all our other promising young players, he goes out on loan for a season then joins them permanetly

I've never heard that either and I'm sure Ablett contradicted that. Whenever a young lad has problems stepping up, it's assumed its an attitude problem. Just internot speak for you.

Im just being realistic, he hasn't played well for the reserves overall for the season so how can he be expected to make it? Last year we all thought he'd make it and appear a few times for the first team. This hasn't been the case. From what I've seen, he isn't a great crosser and he has been used as a striker front. Of the young guys, the creative players who are most likely to make it are Nabil El Zhar and Adam Hammill. Both are excellent crossers, double footed, have a great eye for goal and have th flair most of us crying out for Liverpool to have. The thing with Nabil El Zhar is, he's apparently a striker. But I see him more as a midfielder or playing in 'the hole' as he doesn't score that many goals but has great skill and will probably set up more goals.

Why does everyone say their just being realistic when their being pessimistic?
Saying we won't win or they won't make is not being realistic. There is a difference.

To be honest though with any young player it is odds against them becoming good enough for our first team. It is realistic to say that if they haven't exceled at youth/reserve level they have an lower chance of making it.

People definitely make that mistake when they are talking about games though.

Most people live in a dream world. Look at the facts and figures, the majority ofy outh players at the big clubs are not gonna make it. Smaller clubs likes Middlesborough can afford to play youth players who aren't good enough yet as they are more patient because they are not really goint to challenge for any honours - they have nothing to lose by playing them. Big clubs don't have this patience as they need players who are brought into the team to produce instantly as they do have a lot more to lose. So rather than allow youth to develop slowly over a few years its better to just sign an established player.

This is the case at Liverpool - how many players from the youth team/ academy have made it and established themselves? The last player was probably Steven Gerrard and that was in the last decade. Stephen Warnock never really established himself so he doesn't really count. So it is realistic in saying that, unless a player is amazing at youth/reserve team level and is producing consistent performances, the majority of player at youth/reserve team level will not make it at Liverpool. Paul Anderson this season has not shown the form and progressed on from the form of last season. Therefore it I am being realistic in saying that he is not likely to make it at Liverpool. Chances are, he'll end up being loaned to a Championship side next season and then sold

MoM against the bench bitters today, with a goal.
Sounds like he`s finding form again.
let\s hope he makes it, otherwise we`ve given the migthy John Welsh away for nothing.
