he's ok and an improvement on what we have at the moment on the lw but quaresma is the better player and would probably cost the same money, plus he's younger.“At a football club, there’s a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. ronaldo apparently the greatest player in the world scored 0 goals in the CL up untill the roma game, so he's a **** all player as well?Originally posted by AFII View PostSimao scored 0 goals and had 0 assists in the CL this season."I have decided to escape, to defy the shogun. ribery would be fantastic........djib could put in a good word!!
simao is weak on the ball, which is why i dont like him, quaresma is quite strong though so i think he would be ideal.“At a football club, there’s a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don’t come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques”. Bill Shankly

Couldn't have said it better myself ladOriginally posted by CharlieMansonsSquint View PostThere are some right idiots on this thread.
The reason people don't want Simao because, quite simply, he isn't flash like Quaresma, who seems to be the flavour of the month for the clique.
He's an effective player, can play either side, he's a hard worker, a leader, he's durable, his goalscoring record for a winger is excellent and he's a brilliant set piece specialist. We're being ripped off at £10m.
But of course because he doesn't score the odd crackerjack and do hollywood/highlight reel flicks for simple minded journo's to fawn over he's rubbish, of course he is.
I think some people have been seduced by that showpony arse in Salford, this season, and hence have been fawning over players of a similar ilk - Quaresma and ribery spring to mind. The spawny ****'s had a purple patch, but for me he's nowhere near as good or as effective as a Kaka or a Messi. Dunphy's right about him, he's flash with no character or resiliance. Great against mediocre sides, goes missing when it counts. And that just won't do for LFC.
Substance over style every time for me.

nothing....Lennon hasn't got the all round game, the set piece delivery or the goals scoring knack.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostApart from pace, what has Lennon got that Simao hasn't?

alves is more dynamic than simao i'll give you that. they are two very different players who both offer alot in a position that we need to strengthen. some of the fees i've seen for alves are too expensive, even with investment i would be gutted if we splashed 20M on someone like alves.Originally posted by AFII View PostYes I like him more, I don't think that is a secret
What I mean with more complete player is that Alves works his socks off every minute in every game and that he can play in more positions than Simao.

simao seems a bargain in comparison but who knows, sevilla and benfica are a bitch to deal with and have proven that they know how to haggle. with the obvious interest in alves from other top clubs it will probably create a bidding war, and we don't traditionally do bidding wars.
it makes it all very hard to predict
its become a key feature of our transfer dealings under rafa

Alves will cost £18m. It won't be a bidding war. According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
