Was at the game tonight and feel this song didn't have the massive effect people thought it would.
Found this on another site and was wondering whether some people were singing a different version.
Still early days I know and not everybody knows the words.
Kop sounded great tonight though..

The obvious solution is to sing BOTH versions as ALTERNATE VERSES
(1) It brings together the two factions wanting their own 'best version' to be sung
(2) It nullifies the argument about 'country' and 'Europe' - the song can then be applicable to domestic comps as well as Europe
(3) It actually makes a lot of sense chronologically:
- Shanks built the team upon which success made possible
- We dominated football at home (the country) and abroad (Europe)
- We fell from grace with the european ban and the relative wilderness of the nineties, amongst accusations of not being famous anymore
- And yet we continue to win trophies left right and centre, domestics cups, the UEFA cup and the European cup
