    Jerzy Dudek

Okay I know he's been vilified in some quarters for some terrible performances when he's played recently and the comments which have supposedly been attributed to him made him out to be very outspoken, but i've just read an interview with him in this weeks lfc mag and totally changed my opinion of him.

It's been a bit of a steep decline for him since the final 2 years ago, but I had no idea that being left out of Poland's world cup squad affected him so much. He loves lfc, he'll be leaving at the end of the season but wouldn't dream of going to another prem club, said he can't imagine wanting lfc to lose and that he's become one of us. Said he had every intention of ending his career here but being left out in the circumstances he was seems to have shattered his confidence, and he seems as tho he has a point to prove.

I hope he gets a run out v Charlton in a weeks time because the man will go down as an anfield legend.

He won't be forgotten for that save in ET or the penalty saves.

He was one of the main reasons we brought the cup home in 2005. Luckily he did though because he cost us so many points in the premier league that year it's probably why we came 5th.

He's another David James good one day, sh1t the next. It's just not good enough!

that save and his penalty saves in 05 have ensured his place in anfield folklore

            wish him well

Players like Dudek and James will always be suited to smaller clubs where they are under more pressure and can maintain their level of concentration. They are reaction players who can pull off a string of fine saves, but they are always liable to make mistakes, which becomes more dangerous when you have to spend most of the game with nothing to do.

What makes Reina and Cech such top class keepers is they have nothing to do for the majority of a game, but keep their level of sharpness for those few moments when called upon. It's what seperates a good goalkeeper from a great one.

He's still a legend. Nothing will ever change that.

i find jerzy's situation really uncomfortable and think it shows a side to professional sport we tend to gloss over - we expect footballers to put up with treatment that would be absolutely abhorrent outside the professional sport world

No time ofr fannying about. We have a far better keeper and are a better team because of it (or at least it's one of the reasons). yes he was immense in Istanbul, but he's become a cack handed idiot so move on
