How much have we made from CL?

So how much have we made from the CL this year?

It seems a shame that we have can afford players and stadium upgrades despite our performances on the pitch as I liked the idea that the players earned the club riches to improve and continue to challenge.

Anyhow I am happy that we have a decent manager who has some dosh to spend on players he really wants. Will it be a table rather than a lamp this time?

If we win then no more than 20million because Chelsea and Manure got so far. With only 15% of the revenue from TV from a smaller pot our return will be a lot less than Istanbul.

If we win it and they sort the merchandising out this time, Id say we'd make 50mil easy.

You have to add the extra future revenue we will be able to demand for future sponsorship.

We will have to make alot more of winning the Champs League then we did in 2005, a wasted opportunity to make the Liverpool name bigger worldwide not to mention the money we have lost out on

                    £21m sponsors deal for Reds

                    Feb 9 2007

EXCLUSIVE by Chris Bascombe, Liverpool Echo

Steven Gerrard celebrates his goal during Liverpool's 3-0 Champions League win over Bordeaux

LIVERPOOL are on the verge of sealing their first multi-million pound sponsorship deal of the new American era with a £21.6m agreement with Carlsberg.

The Reds had already decided to renew their arrangement with the brewing giants prior to the takeover of George Gillett and Tom Hicks.

However, the terms are a massive improvement on the disappointing £5m over two years which was agreed in 2004, just before Liverpool won the Champions League final.

The new deal represents £7.2m a year for the next three seasons - virtually trebling Liverpool’s income from this source per annum.

I really wish we'd dump them, promoting booze just isn't right. Besides they screwed us for long enough, time to move on.

90% of football fans drink Booze, nothing wrong with promoting it if it fills our coffers for the transfer market.

£7.2M a season is still absolute ****e and even if 90% of footy fans drink booze, I see not even 10% of top clubs have a brewery as their sponsor. The sooner we get off this conveyer belt of ****e marketing the better.

What our sponsors do is of little relevence to me aslong as the new deal is on a par with the top 4 English teams.

It is better than Arsenal's shirt sponsorship, will end just before we move into the new stadium so I would imagine the plan is to have something bigger and better for when we move into the new stadium along with stadium naming rights.
