If you think Brown and Alonso didn't have any previous to that incident yesterday you have obviously never played the game, chances are Xabi had been needling him and nibbling at him all game, Brown is a dirty ******* but Xabi aint no saint either, he does a lot of talking on the pitch. Same goes for Ball he knows one way to stop Ronaldo is to hurt him cos he is a little ****house, doesnt seem to work so easily now as yesterday proved but he was trying to put him off his game.
Man you should try playing Rugby Union if you think either of those incidents warranted a nine month ban.
Oh and 9 months could be up to 10% of a players career if you include injuries so it is a large chunk.

One thing is football, the other violence. And yes, I have played, and also done judo wich is the most brutal sport I have done. You have far greater chance to inflict pain in judo then in football.

to make an example out of one bloke is not the way to go, 4-6 games, repeated offenses should be harsher, but most of those things are done in the heat of the moment, and harsher punishment wont effect the way you think in the moment anyways, it's not like it premeditated before the match that would be totally different.

The stomp on Ronaldo was premeditated. He clearly took a few seconds to think about it.

But I would go along with first offence and all that.

The simple fact is that this is a good tool to intimidate and young players are being taught that. And for only one reason, they get away with it. If they didnt they would not do this.

Sorry but that's a total overreaction. It was hardly a butt and if you watch the film carefully enough you'll see both move their heads towards each other.

As for the nightclub scenario, you should know well enough that not every headbutt / assault is dealt with in the fashion you describe.

Brown could face a ban but assault charges? Give it a rest. Some of Diop's tackling was closer to assault than Brown's actions.

Stevie G's on campbell was worse, and his 2 footer on Naysmith, oh and Essien on Hamann. The list is endless, its all ****in handbags and part of the game.
Joey Barton on that City player i have never heard of was assault.
