    Too good for the bench?

I don't think there can be any disputing the fact that Pepe is our first choice keeper, and at 23 should stay there for a long time to come. The problem is where does that leave us with our back-up keepers.

Carson has, by all accounts, had an excellent season at Charlton and must have serious aspirations of playing for England, especially with Robinson's uncanny knack of letting in goals from distance. Is it fair to ask him to come back and sit on the bench with very little prospect of replacing Pepe as first choice, even if he starts in all domestic cup games?

I think we are going to lose Carson & Dudek in the summer, so we are going to need someone with experience to sit on the bench. I haven't seen Padelli play, but I wouldn't want to have to rely on him if we lose Pepe to injury.

I suppose it's up to Carson. Obv LFC will be happy to have Carson as backup but Carson probably has other ideas. We also have Martin.

I'd expect Carson to be sold for a decent profit this summer - he isn't going to be happy being sat on the bench all season, and you can understand his reasoning for wanting to move.

        Good luck to him.

Carson knew that he would be second fiddle to Pepe, I think he may stick around for another season maybe go out on loan id like to see him in Spain playing for a good side rather then play in a ****e team.

Playing at a top club in big competitions will be of more benefit to him rather then playing at Charlton.

I was wondering if Rafa might put Carson on the bench for the Final, seeing as he has much more match practice than the Dude? Assuming he's allowed, of course!
Life is NOT a journey to the grave with the goal of arriving safely in a prettily preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways in a shower of gravel and party shards, thoroughly used, utterly exhausted, and loudly proclaiming: "F*** ME, that was BRILLIANT!"
