Reina - Not his fault for the goal. (6)

Krompkamp - Not bad, not Steve Finnan either. (6)

Carragher - Hope the injury's not too serious (6)

Sami - All over the place in the first half. Better in the second. Absolutely woeful distribution of the ball though, I lost count how many times he humped it to no one. (6)

Riise - We'll miss him badly. Best left back at the club. (6)

Gerrard - We'd have been beaten if he wasn't on the pitch. Looked as fed up playing with that ****e as I did watching it. (7)

Sissoko - Not his best, not his worst. (6)

Zenden - Wank. He's not a central midfielder. Never got his foot on the ball once. Scurrying round, snapping at ankles, and looking 'busy' - big fcuking deal, we don't need a Robbie Savage at the club. (4)

Aurelio - Looked much more comfortable when he went to left back. (6)

Bellamy - Needs better service than that, but also needs to come and make things happen too. (6)

Fowler - Don't let a cheeky penalty cloud what was a truly dreadful performance. If Peter Crouch had have played like that, I'd have been apopletic, just cos it's *the* Robbie Fowler shouldn't mean I'm anymore sympathetic. So I won't be. He was ****e. Off the pace, poor touch, missed chances, giving the ball away, and generally worthless. I couldn't believe Rafa left him on for so long. (4)

Subs;

Agger - That lad's a very very good defender. (7)

Gonzalez - Didn't touch leather in the first half. Looked slightly more interested in the second. But he was up against an absolute gift of a left back there and didn't make the most of it. Should have been the key outlet ball, and go-to-man, he wasn't. (5)

Pennant - Too late.


Rafa - Not playing Alonso was a pitiful error, as was not having Garcia on the bench. Luis would have come on and got a winner against that ****e. Don't give me any of this 'difficult place to go to' ****e or 'at least we got a point' wank. Sheffield United were awful, and we should have had our best side out dominating and intimidating them from the very first minute. Get the win and then worry about resting players. As it is, we were fortunate to get a penalty, and now go into Tuesday's game all over the place. You made a bollox of this one Rafa. (1)

Reina (6). Wasn't given much to do, left helpless for the goal

Hyypia (5) All over the place like a mad woman's piss in the first half, but improved as the rest of the team did.

Carragher (5). Hope he's back soon, although Agger did OK.

Riise (5). REALLY hope he's back soon.

Sissoko (4). I'm afraid that the sobriquet I gave him last year, "Brains", fitted him well today. Ran about like a headless ****ing chicken and has NO CLUE how to dictate play or the pace of a game.

The Weeble (2). At least Sissoko can run. This cnut did even less. Why does Benitez have a blind spot about certain players? How is Zenden even getting a game? He's ****ing ****e.

Gerrard (5). Only woke up in the second half, but perhaps, like me, he was stunned that players like Sissoko and Zenden can be ahead of him in the pecking order for a central midfield spot. Won us a dubious penalty, and ONCE AGAIN FOR ABOUT THE FIFTH SEASON IN A ROW, looked like the only player capable of getting hold of the game.

Aurelio (5). Some nice touches and one nice free-kick, but I'm not sure he knows how to mark, which is a bit of a minus point for a full-back.

Bellamy (5). He never stops trying or running, but his goalthreat was nowhere to be seen today. Ditto his service.

Fowler (5). Well, he was rubbish, but scored the penalty, so he JUST gets a 5.

Subs:

Gonzo (3). Hopeless

Agger (5). Fiited in well, ie a 5 and pretty average

Sheffield United were awful

Armstrong, Iffel and Jagielka impressed... Hulse looked strong and busy... Unsworth played well and Morgan had a good game too.

No, I don't think you can say Sheffield were awful. They were busy, lively and energetic in a way that we weren't.

For me the midfield was the problem.... was too packed for Momo and Bolo to cope with without good outlets on either wing.

Losing Rockets for Gonzo and with StevieG isolated we didn't have it.

Both God and Bellamy were so far from the action we ended up playing a silly number of long balls out to the wings, by-passing the midfield entirely.

I've yet to be convinced by Bolo in the middle and Kronk didn't play well.

But ultimately it's facts like having 12/13 corners with no conversion to goals and too much possession in our defensive third with no middle third outlets that let us down today.

I don't think anyone can say they played well - I think we were second to every ball until the last 20 mins!

Roll on tuesday. Roll over Haifa.

In terms of ratings I think an across the board 6 pretty much covers it - adequate, but not good enough.

Sorry to say it but Crouch's absence showed how important he is to us. Should have come on instead of Pennant.

I don't think we'll see Crouch in more than 20 games this season. Just a prediction.
