good bit of business it seems. I think he is deemed a defensive mid in Brazil, but in European football he would be a box to box midfielder. He scores to many goals to be a pure defensive mid. Brazilians are raving about him.

looks to have a robust style of play too, should suit the Prem perfectly.

Im increasingly sure Momo will be sold this summer....most probably to Juve. They have stated their interest in him numerous times, and they will be rebuilding now that they're back in Serie A.

one point to be made: If we have splashed that sort of cash for a Midfielder what can we expect for our striking department?

Well, it could well be Xabi on his way out. I don't think Rafa will be selling momo though.

            4-5-1 or 3-5-2 next season?
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Seeing the video clips, I can see Lucas as having the same style as Stevie G though, being box to box and scoring goals from midfield. But the sky's article state he's a holding midfielder.

So, he could well be a backup to Stevie.
First off, I would think Xabi is a recognized holding midfielder.

And second, Rafa has said that he wants two players for each position.
Could that mean Xabi and Masher as holding players, Momo and Lucas more forward, ( and then we have a player in front of our holding player much better on the ball then Momo ) and Gerrard playing a purely attacking role?

Quite a chance imo. But I think we'll switch and change formations between a few various, I wouldn't rule that out.

One of them are going to be on the way out between now and the next 2 seasons. Remember Lucas is only 19. So if he develops as expected either Sissoko or Alonso will have to go, it's a shame as they both add great qualities to the game. And I have a Sissoko jersey, I'd be devestated if he leaves and I love Alonso just as much but I guess we'll have to see how it goes but it's highly likely one is gone.

Ah well I'll just look forward to Lucas I guess. When we win the league I won't be complaining.

Does this mean the end for Momo?

                            From Skysports:

                            Liverpool close to Lucas deal

Liverpool have won the race for Brazilian midfielder Lucas, according to his club Gremio.

The 20-year-old has long been linked with a move for Europe, as his impressive displays as the holding midfielder for Gremio have caught the eye of watching scouts.

Gremio have claimed a host of teams came calling, but stated Liverpool acted quickly to wrap up the transfer.

"We did business very fast with Liverpool because there was a lot of interest," Gremio secretary Alfredo Oliveira told Radio Bandeirantes.

"Lucas travelled to England to present himself and although there are a few little details to be resolved, I can say that the transfer has been arranged and that Lucas will join his new team once Gremio's participation in the Copa Libertadores ends."

It is believed that Liverpool have paid in the region of £8million for the Brazil international.

Gremio are in the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores, but Lucas should link-up with The Reds for pre-season in order to put pressure on the likes of Mohamed Sissoko, Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano.

Or does it mean Xabi is off to Barca? A fella on RAWK reckons we've signed this Pezzini fella.

                              AFII signs for Liverpool shocker!

Lucas Pezzini Leiva (born January 9, 1987 in Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul,)more commonly known as AFII, is a Brazilian football (soccer) midfielder. In 2005, playing for Grêmio, he won the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B and the Gauchão 2006. Recently he has been called up by Dunga, current coach of the Brazilian national team. Lucas is nephew of the former Brazilian football (soccer) player Leivinha. He received an award as the best player in Campeonato Brasileiro 2006.

                              International Career

Lucas made his debut for Brazil on October 07, 2006 against Kuwait club, Al-Kuwait. Brazil won the match 4-0 and Lucas made his appearance in the second half. However, this appearance did not count as his first cap as this match was not considered as official friendly match by FIFA.

Lucas is presently captain of the Under-20 Brazilian team playing the 2007 South American Youth Championship.

                              International Career

He is widely regarded as a promising player in Brazil and a move to Europe is his most probable destination. Reportedly the midfielder will make the jump to the premier league as it seems he has signed with Liverpool, and will likely join them after Grêmio finishes its Copa Libetadores campaign. The transfer fee is rumored to be near the 10 million euro mark

                                Cant keep them all happy.

Mono is no doubt a talent and the best we have at breaking up play the only thing and we have all seen it, he cant pass the ball to save his life and in the two years he's been here hasnt improved at passing but his defensive qualities have and thats were he's world class potential.

Momo is the likely on to go if its out of The Mash,Stevie and Xabi. Zenden will probably be off too.

Id be sickened if Xabi was sold no one can pass like him in the club
