Would thins kind of thing be the reason why he goes back to Spain, and possibly to Barca in a player plus cash deal.
I know, i'm way jumping the gun here. But I have been concerned.
If it is Eto´o the other way I´ll be ok.

Maybe Rafa is preparing to offer Xabi plus dosh in exchange for Eto'o, Lucas in plus Eto'o and on paper we are better than before, still to find out if this Lucas in any good though.
      * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

He would be much more influential in Spain. 3 goals and 1 assists is not satisfactory in 42 games started. He sits too deep and has trouble imposing himself on the final 1/3. He can't dribble. He has no pace. He offers little goal threat from the distance. 61 shots on goal this season. 18 hits! He only has his passing to rely on.

If we can use him to get Eto'o/Villa everybody should be more than happy.

I honestly doubt Lucas is a replacement for Xabi. It would be dumb to get rid of aplayer whos not only good but adapted to the english league for a player whos 'possible' for both. Not the best way to win the league. So definately not Alonso out.

Good points, but he does give us that control and calmness in midfield.

Absolutely but with Mascher and Lucas we have that in spades. We need a CM like Gerrard to be complete. I seriously doubt that Rafa has the balls for a 3-5-2 away or at home. Not on a more frequent basis anyway. I also think that it would be a mistake tbh. A 3-5-2 is too easy to shutdown if you know it's comming. We need to build a 4-4-2 with enough quality to brake down the opposition away.

So does anyone know which EU country Lucas has a passport from?

I'll wager Portugal, or maybe Spain.

His name is a big clue isn't it ?
