I don't think stuffing the midfield with talent in reserve can do good in the long run though, IMO. Look at Chelsea, Maureen has been talking of trimming his squad to enable that tight knit feeling and to improve team spirit. Having as many players fighting for the same position could be a detrimental factor to some players in the long run.

Chelsea have had Ballack sleepwalking through the whole season - there'd be no danger of that happening with us next season. Competition for places is never a bad thing as long as there isn't TOO much and it causes divisions within the squad. But every player should feel that if they have a couple of bad games in a row, there's someone right up their arse waiting to take their place
