No, course not. But if we're still third a year on then we haven't made progress in the league. So then it comes down to how big the leap is to second and how you've performed, and we were much closer to second and performed much better for longer periods last season.

Thing is we've now got a squad who are better suited to the way Rafa wants us to play, we made a lot of new signings and they've taken time to adapt but that stands is in good stead for next season, so in some respects I think it might be a case of you have to go backwards to go forwards. This summer hopefully we see less quantity and more quality coming in, and we hit the ground running in the league next season.

I think we should be aiming for 3 straight wins at the beginning of the season no matter who they are.

As long as Rafa has his signings done and dusted before pre season, I think we will see an even more improved Liverpool next season, I am very confident of that.

I'd say on balance we are, thats two seasons finishing above them an fa cup and the possibility of number 6. True they've been without Henry and Van Persie for large parts, but we've been without a decent left sided player all season (Kewell - don't laugh) and we don't have a 20 a season striker that many ppl seem set on, u stick a henry in our side and i'd say we're comfortably a better team than Arsenal, at the moment probably only just, hopefully we'll put that right in the summer

To be fair Van Persie and Henry have been largely absent for the last 3-4 months or so. Take Stevie and Kuyt (or Crouch) out of our team for that long and we might well have struggled to make 4th, let alone 3rd.

I disagree. Stevie G has been poor all season and we actually play better without him. If you take Crouch or Kuijt out the other is there to cover. We are no longer a one man team, so your argument doesnt cut it for me

I agree with you that we're only just better than the arse, however a few seasons ago we were a long way behind them in terms of squad strength etc.

Give Rafa a few more seasons to turn our league form around, i'm certain with a bit of patience we will challenge for the league as consitently as we challenge for europe.
