They should take the penalties before the extra time.

It would give the players some rest and the losing team would need to attack more.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

So, taking the semi-final as an example. It finishes 1-1 on aggregate, we then win 4-1 on penalties, so Chelsea have half an hour to score three. Or four? I'm confused. Is Chelsea's penalty an away goal? Can't see it working mate.
Dreams come true. Without that possibility, nature would not incite us to have them.

My son Foster is a fan of soccer. He was a goaltender. His brother was a defenseman.

        No.

Extra time counts before the penalties. If we for example would win the penalties then the Chavs would need to score in extra time to win it, we would not need to do that.

If the Chavs win the penalties then that don't count as an away goal, it only counts as what they have done, won the penalties.

leave it as it is. we currently have one of the best spot kick savers i've ever seen.

and even when we didn't, we still did ok even if the keeper wasn't that great overall (sander, the dude)

the spirit of the club fills our keepers and makes the goal harder to hit

It's not a lottery. I was so confident after the 120 minuted were up against Chelsea; and that's because we're GOOD at penalties. Obviously, sooner or later we will lose on penalties, but generally we're GOOD at them, we're like the anti-Italy if you will.

It would just turn extra time into attack against defence.
                .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Possibly the strangest and most impractical idea I have ever heard. There would be uproar. Why don't we just take them at the beginning of the game then and get them out of the way with?

i think there great entertainment although i hate watching us take them even with our record. i love when england games go to penalties you can just see the look on the players faces thinking about what time the coach is leaving for the airport!

Penalty shoot outs are not a gamble. It's a Skill that can be trained like any other. We have proven it by winning 10 out of 11 shootouts we have been involved in. Germany on the International scene have proven it as well.

The Fact that many teams neglect to sharpen this skill (GK and Penalty takers) are their own Fault

                          Agreed.

But cancel it on the international stage. Fookin England!
