    Xabi Prieto

    Anyone know much about Prieto?

Liverpool boss Benitez faces Xabi Prieto decision
    tribalfooball.com - August 21, 2006

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez may be forced to make a decision over Real Sociedad midfielder Xabi Prieto.
The Reds have first refusal on Prieto, which was secured last January when Benitez agreed to loan winger Mark Gonzalez to Real.

Prieto has emerged as a target for Real Betis, which see him as a replacement for Valencia-bound Joaquin. Should Betis make a firm bid, Real will be obliged to inform Liverpool, which will have the option of matching the Seville club's offer and taking Prieto to England.

Cadiz star Lobos long-term Liverpool target
    tribalfooball.com - August 21, 2006

Liverpool are keeping tabs on Cadiz midfielder Lucas Lobos.

The Argentine has been tracked in preseason by Liverpool representative Pedro Campo, who keeps tabs on future talent for Reds boss Rafa Benitez.

Campo is convinced of Lobos' ability, but the youngster remains strictly a long-term target for Liverpool with Cadiz president Antonio Munoz not considering any offers less than his £15 million buyout clause.

I believe so. And he's been fairly woeful when I've seen him in action. Not much to go on though, admittedly.

Can I use you guys as references......

Don't think I have ever seen Prieto play to be honest - but on another note, Valencia seem to have had a very busy summer.

I like Prieto, watched him a few times, he's much more a "right sided midfielder" than a "right winger", tall lad, good on the ball but not especially pacey. I'm not sure we would bring him in given the likely cost, and how expensive Pennant was, but then what do I know

He was their top scorer last season. 9 goals.

Top scorer last season i guess is impressive enough, am very supprised actually, as the games i seen him in last season he was woefull. Maybe i just cought him on bad days and always coming off the bench.
I reckon he was put on a list of potential buys by Rafa incase all else failed. ie Pennant and Alves. Dont think we will sign him.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                      * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

Technically excellent, good quality final ball. Not particularly physical though, not the quickest either. I think we'll just let it be....

he is very good on the ball, but IMO would struggle with the physicality of the prem. Not really a winger either, he is very similar to Garcia, cuts inside and shoots. We dont need him IMO....unless it for 2mill.

If we don't need him, what difference does his price make?

Just buy players because they're cheap?

FFS who let you in here?

he would be a handy pick up for around the 2mill mark is what i said. But i wouldnt bust our asses to try get him. We dont need him, but if he was cheap he would be a good buy. I highly doubt we will go for him though.

We didnt NEED Sissoko either...but we bought him. That turned out alright didnt it.
