He's had an average season by his standards. To call it very disappointing is OTT. With a little luck we will have HK on the left next year, like we did last year, then we will see Stevie with the time and space to do what he does best.Originally posted by Marky19 View PostHe's had a very disappointing season but this is excellent news.
Next wednesday and next season hopefully we will see the Gerrard of last season in action.
Harry may not of played to the standard we expect last season but he still gets respect from the opposition, holds the ball up and passes intelligently. All this stretched defenses and allowed Gerrard space to work in, which resulted in a great year, goalwise, for SG.
Personally thought Stevie had a decent year this year without being his usual dominant force.Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is on the verge of signing a new cone-tract with the club.
The 26-year-old has two years left on his current deal but the Anfield club are keen to sign him on a new four-year cone-tract.
New owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett are also willing to sanction a £120,000 weekly wage for the England midfielder.
Gerrard confirmed that negotiations are ongoing with the club and insisted he was ready to put pen to paper as soon as possible.
He said: "Talks are progressing and I am ready to sign a new cone-tract any time now.
"It's just around the corner.
"I am not sure when it will be done but I am ready to sign. As soon as the cone-tract is put in front of me, I will sign it."
The news will delight Liverpool supporters, who have faced at least two anxious summers sweating over the future of their skipper in recent years.
For Gerrard, it provides the chance to launch a genuine title challenge with the Reds - something he admits the Reds have again failed to do this season.
He said: "We can't escape the fact that, in the league, this season we haven't been good enough.
"You ask the manager, or me, or indeed any of the players in our dressing room and they will all say exactly the same thing."
A second Champions League final appearance in three years reflects well on the strides being made under Rafael Benitez, but Gerrard insists the side crave domestic success.
"We had bigger ambitions for this season than the Champions League. We always had one eye on Europe because it is so prestigious and a tournament that has always served us well, but we also wanted the league flag flying back at Anfield and felt we were in a good position to have a real go.
"The league is always your bread and butter as a Liverpool player and we're not far away," he added.
"With investment in the summer, and the squad here staying together we can promise to push Chelsea and United all the way next year."

I disagree, he's gone missing in too many big games, i'm thinking of utd away, arsenal away, chelsea away, everton away etc etc.Originally posted by Skillz View PostHe's had an average season by his standards. People make too many excuses for Gerrard's poor form, just admit he hasn't been at it and be done with it.
In saying that he's still a massive part of the clubs future and there'll not be a happier man than me when he pens a new contract.

I said he's been average by his standards. So you feel he has been below that?Originally posted by Marky19 View PostI disagree, he's gone missing in too many big games, i'm thinking of utd away, arsenal away, chelsea away, everton away etc etc.

Ste Gerrard, Gerrard
I know some fans think of him as Superman, but he isnt. He has had an average year by the standards he has set, he has still been more than serviceable. By the way how many good games has Lampard, Scholes, Carrick, Alonso, Essien etc had against the top 4.
Dont you think its time to realise the top teams negate the top players, particularly in midfield?Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

I know what you're getting at. However he has still been better than at least 90% of our squad which just goes to show how good he is. A Gerrard on top form in the future would be great. I think when you put quality players around Gerrard you will see him at his best.Originally posted by Marky19 View PostHe's had a very disappointing season but this is excellent news.
