Like him for his flirts with Chelsea or not, the man is by far and away our best and is the fulcrum of our side, we are poorer without him on the pitch.

All this **** about having more balance or whatever is just a flowery way of saying that we can cope but the team has little heart as the only other person on the pitch who has his passion for the club is Carra. He can only do so much in defence though.

I sometimes wonder if we where a better team with Kaka instead of him.
IMO Kaka is better suited to the role Gerrard is meant to play in out attack.

I think Gerrard has actually been pretty consistant - however he has been at a lower level than previous seasons - certainly from an attacking perspective. His defensive positioning has come on loads in the middle.

The only times he has been poor has been on the right against the top teams. He has cut in too much.

Even with Gerrards so called bad season he could walk on to any team in Europe. He would be in a world 11. Some of those players you have mentioned have had an excellent season, some, like Riise and Crouch, have been just ok. If we sold Gerrard we would find him impossible to replace we could not replace Carraghers commitment either. The rest can be bought and sold easily enough.
