    Carson on loan again?

According to the Daily Mail Fulham have allready shows interest in a loan the next season. Two other PL clubs is interested as well.
He`s going to be on the bench when he returns, but is there any point in another year on loan? If we get a good offer we should sell, and not let his contract run down too much.

Sell him before he starts ****ing up too often. £4m would be a good deal.

I think it is a tough one. he has the talent in my opinion and we need competition for Reina. the trouble is he seems unwilling to learn Rafa's prefered sweeping tactics for a keeper. If he goes on loan it would have to be to a club where they wanted him to do that too.

I think a season on loan behind a half competant defence would bring him on a long way.

If Rafa doesn't feel he will ever learn to be a sweeper keeper then he will almost certainly be sold this summer.

Carson is still very young for a keeper, so another loan deal won't do him no harm.

However, with Reina also a young keeper and looking to establish himself as our number one for the next ten years or so it will be difficult for Carson to break through. It's healthy to have good competition for places but as a keeper it's difficult as the reserve is always on the bench and not getting any decent playing time. With Carson having broken into the international scene and with obvious intentions to stay there he simply must play, but I doubt he'd get that with us if Reina continues to play well and keep clean sheets.

We need good cover for Reina and with Dudek on his way after next week I don't think Padelli is the answer. Carson would be ideal but that's not going to happen, and I don't blame the lad really - he's tasted regular football at the highest level both in the EPL and the U-21 scene, and has been involved at full international level too. Stepping back as an understudy won't do him any good at all, and I simply can't see that happerning.

Loaning him out again might be the way forward if we want to keep him, otherwise it may be time to sell for a decent profit. If he wants to challenge Reina for the number one spot then great, but I doubt he will - Reina's our number one, full stop, and the only way Carson will play is if Reina gets injured or his form goes to pot!

I think we'll be looking for another understudy this summer.

I'd sell. The lad obviously doesn't have any chance of forst team footy unless Pepe gets injured. He needs to play at this stage of his career and it'd probably be best that he moves on.

We should look to replace him with a more experienced number 2 who won't mind playing second fiddle to Pepe.

Sell get the cash before he devalues, he will only increase his value now by playing for the big 4 or England, neither of which will happen.

He's going to have to leave, IMO as there's little chance of him overtaking Pepe as number 1. And as others have said Pepe is young himself and will quite possibly hold the number 1 spot for 10 years or more.

He signed a new five year contract not long ago did he not? So another year on loan wouldn't be disastarous, at least not in terms of his contract length at the end of it.

If he goes, I reckon we'd be better off getting someone experienced who will be willing to sit on the bench - problem is, who?

I agree, that's a problem. Being reserve keeper must be rubbish - no half decent keeper is going to want the odd Carling Cup game per season. It's harder for most number two's here as our defence is rock solid and Pepe is firmly number one, probably for years to come.

I've been racking my brain trying to think of an experienced custodian, but I'm struggling.

The problem with older players, especially keepers, is that more than at any other point in their career, they're just desperate to play.

Would someone like, say, Niemi want to forsake guaranteed first-team football every week with Fulham, to come and sit on our bench and only play in the League Cup?

I doubt it, no matter how big a draw we are.

Maybe there's a decent Spanish stopper out there who could be brought in?

Yeah, I know what you mean Shaggy. I've been trying to think of someone also but have come up with nothing.

I wonder who Rafa has in his sights, that is, if Carson does indeed leave.

Who's going to be our backup keeper next year then?

                        Padelli?

                        Espanyol have just equalised.
