More or less the same here. But it was the Kop that got me hooked. My nana lived in Anfield and we used to go and visit and we could here the kop from her front room. I was always fascinated by the sound. Went to my first match at 7 and never looked back. Late 70s and the eighties were my time.Originally posted by Howard_lfc View PostWas born in 1965.
Started going regularly in 1976.
THe 80's were great.

first game I remember watching on TV was '65 Cup final, first match I went to was in '68, cup replay v Bournemouth. my dad had a season ticket in Kemlyn Road in the 1970s and 1980s, and I used it until I moved away from Liverpool in 1978. Memories include abandoned match v Munchengladbach in 1973 (and stuffing them the following night) a run of home games in 1974 when we kept winning games by scoring in last couple of minutes, 7-0 v Spurs, 3-1 v St Etienne, 3-2 v Bruges after being 0-2 behind at half time, winning 3-1 at Wolves in 1976 to win title.....and many many more!!!

I was born in 1973 and my earliest memories were of Kevin Keagan ... very vague though !! Then when I grew up a little more I remember watching that FA Cup semi-final (In 1985 ??) when we had to endure a replay after drawing (2-2?) in the last minute through a Rushie goal. We were wearing that Yellow strip at the time (Crown Paints as sponsors), but I don't remember the team we played against ??? Everton / Manure ???
Remember listening to BBC Sportsline at the time on the radio with my dad, and Alan Greene was the commentator.
That was fantastic. I remember us winning the league after a poor start to the season (was it in 1983) and won it at a canter in the end ... Bobby Robson's Ipswich were our main challengers at the time.
My team was always THAT team of Barnes, Beardsley etc ... That's when I started playing competitive soccer for my school, and modelled my game on Molby at the time.

Born in '81. All I remember of the eighties was that Saint and Greavsie only semmed to show us and Spurs. My first clear memories are of the 89-90 season, which is sort of lucky I guess.Originally posted by keniget View PostI was born in 1980 and I have very fond (if somewhat faded) memories of the late 80's, the 87-88 season in particular."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Think it was Manure and the last gasp equalizer was by Whelan. We lost the replay 2-1.
First introduced to Liverpool in '77, the FA cup final vs the Scum where we lost
, I was 7 yrs old then. Never looked back eversince. As an OTT I used to stay up late in the night listening to scores updates etc on the BBC in the 80's and early 90's. I have blocked the Souness era from memory

Really ? Thought we'd won the replay and it was Rushie who equalized in that first game. He did score to equalize at 1-1 though ?Originally posted by JCase View PostThink it was Manure and the last gasp equalizer was by Whelan. We lost the replay 2-1.
Did you remember these LIVE BBC shows dedicated to league matches at the time mate, Alan Greene was part of the commentary team I think ... These were fantastic memories and fantastic commentaries !

The way these guys were commenting was brilliant ! It was like watching the game on the TV.

First game I watched was the Fa cup final on the TV in 1965, a black and white set.
First game I went to was in in 1973, 50p to get in the Kop if I remember. Still suffreing from PTSD after having a spell in the boy's pen.

That was the 'game of the flying golf balls' that I was on about earlier.
Whelan equalised (another curler from outside the box) in the last couple of minutes of normal time. They went 2-1 up in extra time and, in the last minute we again drew level, with Walsh forcing it over the line after Rush's header was clawed out by Bailey.
The replay was just dire. Lost 2-1 and played like ****e.

Born in January '71 , first game I vaguely remember was the '74 cup final.
First home game was January '78 when we lost at home to Birmingham. Started going regularly with my mates in the early '80's and got my first season ticket in 1986 after going to every game home and away and missing out on a cup final ticket (some things never change!)"Man will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest."

Unfortunately my first clear memory of being a Liverpool fan is when we got beat on the last day against the Arse in 1989. I really try hard to remember something better but I can't.
I was 9 years old and I guess I didn't really follow football that much back then especially living in Australia.

Wasn't really into football until 7 or so, went to a new school in Bedford and they said who do you support so i said Motherwell (my dads team). They said I couldn't support a Scottish team seeing as I was living in England and told me that Liverpool were friends with Mothwell so I should support them (I was about 7 at the time). First season I can remember was the 95-96 and properly the 96-97 (my fav season along with 00/01 & 05/06)I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Are you watching Manchester United? Are you watching Chelsea? This is Liverpool F.C taking over the bloody world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i was born in 83. i have a vauge recollection of the 89 cup final and getting beat by arsenal at anfield on the last game of the season, (dont remeber anything about the games, just my dads reaction on both occassions).
Beating Sunderland in 92 FA cup final is the first trophy i can remeber us winning.
I was brought up to support Liverpool by my dad. He was born in 1950 so he used to go watch liverpool when they where in the old second division. Roger Hunt was his idol. Im just so glad he never chose to follow Everton (with them being Liverpools biggest team at the time).Last edited by felly; 19-05-07, 12:41 AM.Justice for the 96 - YNWA
