    Ancelotti taunts Liverpool

Carlo Ancelotti has claimed a UEFA Champions League final against Manchester United would make for a much more spectacular showpiece.

Milan will play Liverpool in Athens next week in a repeat of the 2005 final which The Reds won on penalties after coming back from three goals down.

Ahead of the game, Ancelotti has branded Rafa Benitez's side the 'worst' of the English clubs in this season's competition.

The Rossoneri chief has come out in criticism of Liverpool's style, believing the Champions League final could prove a let down for the spectators.

"On a technical level, they are the worst of the three English teams to reach this season's semi-finals," Ancelotti is quoted in The S*n.

"But that does not mean I'd have chosen to be playing them in next week's final. I would have preferred Manchester United.

"One of the reasons is because we all saw how the semi-final went for Milan, both at Old Trafford and in the San Siro.

"I also believe it would have made a better final in Athens because United are a technical team who play good football and also let the opposition play.

"I don't believe the same thing will happen with Liverpool."

Ancelotti also hit out at the Anfield club for relying on too many foreigners rather than sticking with British talent that served them so well in the past.

"Milan will always have a strong Italian quality because, even with foreigners like Kaka and Seedorf, we remain true to our influences, philosophy and beliefs," he said.

"But Liverpool don't have any English DNA anymore. They are more like a Mediterranean team and that comes from their coach."

It looks like they're trying to goad Rafa into playing a more attacking game which would obviously suit them fine.

Of course, much of what he says is true or at least a reasonable opinion to hold. The media may well be twisting the tone and focusing on the really negative things he says just to hype it up for the sake of a headline.
        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

They got gubbed two years ago in one of the best finals in decades. And by **** it's obvious that it smarts like hell.

The thing is in the end he basically says he would have prefered to have played Man United in the final as he was more confident of beating them.

Saying that we're the 'worst' on a technical level to Chelsea and Manure is grossly unfair as we can play a bit, and certainly better than Chelsea on our day. Yes, Rafa's tactics seem to predominate, but to win anything at this level, you need that.

Sentimentality doesn't win you anything in Europe these days, ask Fergie and Rijkaard.

Barca even won it in playing 'ugly' last year. Does that make them an ugly team ? I think not.

He can chirp all he likes. The more he does that the more likely our boys are of shoving his words back down his throat.

He's still scared of us from 2 years back when he froze and did **** all to the tactics when we were drawing level with them.

All he's been on about since the semi this year is that the mancs are a better footballing side - because he would rather play a game like that than the more physical game we'll give them.

We'll do them 2-0 this time around.
What have I learned, Mr Mackay? Three things. One - bide your time. Two - keep your nose clean. And three - don't let the *******s grind you down

Fergie isn't tatically asutute for the European game though.

I mean how many goes has he had at the CL and how many times has he even made the final?

With the players United have had over the past 15 years they should of won it a few times.

No I agree, I don't think we're worse than Chelsea but I can see why some might say that - they arguably have more technically-adept players even though I think they're mechanical as a team.

As I said, it doesn't seem unreasonable for neutrals to hold that opinion. I hope Rafa ignores it and that the Valdano jibes and other negative stuff going on doesn't interfere.

By the way, did anyone else think that Rafa psyched out Mourinho again in the second leg? Why did he not make at least one substitution earlier? It was like he was waiting for Rafa to make a move so he could then counter it with a substitution.
