    Rovers Return For Bellers?

    ROVERS RETURN FOR BELL?
    By Alan Nixon 17/05/2007

BLACKBURN boss Mark Hughes will make a bid to bring back Craig Bellamy - and he wants the Welsh star to play with Benni McCarthy and not replace him.

Hughes has been given the nod from chairman John Williams to approach Liverpool about doing a deal to set up a Rovers return for the fiery 27-year-old forward.

Rovers sold Bellamy for £7m a year ago - against their liking - and want him back for the same price to give them a potent attacking force.

Hughes still has links with Bellamy, who he selected while Wales boss. And Williams will hand over half of Rovers' summer kitty for the move, knowing the club do not need many other signings.

Bellamy's Kop switch - triggered by a clause in the striker's contract involving bids from clubs playing Champions League football - has not worked out.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez has only used him sparingly. Liverpool have already turned down an offer from Aston Villa, but if Bellamy says he wants to go that changes the picture.

Meanwhile, potential strike partner Mc-Carthy has made his clearest plea yet for Jose Mourinho to rescue him from his Champions League exile.

The South Africa striker, 29, who played for Mourinho at Porto, has told Chelsea he wants to sign after Rovers failed to make the UEFA Cup.

He said: "Next season Mourinho will want to come in for bigger and better players and hopefully I fall into that category."

He should head back to Celtic or even Newcastle could be possible.

I would like to see him stay he's the only pace we got at this moment in time

Do you think he'd be sold if Rafa wasn't getting in someone else with pace?
        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I would like to see him replaced. Despite being fit all season, pretty much, he has been very inconsistant. He is an experienced player and if by now he hasn't learnt to use his pace better then I suspect he never will. He is undoubtedly a vary talented player but he doesn't have the mentality/football intelligence to succeed at the highest level.

I suspect he burnt his bridges with Newcastle last time he was there. they have had a lot of players return after absence but none who have upset Sheperd.

Mmm im not sure exactly what will happen no one is expect Rafa in his thinking.

Bellers is an valuable at the club due to his pace and he is a good player he score buckets at Rovers last year.

I would like 2 strikers in the summer if he gets two world class strikers i.e Eto'o and that type i can see Crouch or Bellers going at the moment it seems Crouch has go the highest stock due to his recent performances. Both offer something different and are valuable. Kuyt isnt going to be sold and Crow has come in. Fowler is leaving so that leave us with maybe 4 or 5 strikers come the end of the summer.

I've been disappointed with what Bellers has produced this season, and fully expect him to be sold if we get someone else with pace to replace him.

He knew the EPL well and scored some cracking goals for Blackburn last season but he just hasn't produced it with us. I know we play a different type of game to Rovers, who made the most of his pace with hitting teams on the break, but I expected more from him this season.

LFC play more of a passing game nowadays, especially at home, and I suppose that type of game doesn't get the most out of Bellers' talents. Give him the ball with his back to goal and he'll struggle as he's much more effective running the channels and chasing through balls in behind the defence.

His finishing hasn't been as clinical as last season though and it looks like he's missed out on a longer stay at the club he loves down to his lack of goals this season.

Shame, as I hoped he'd provide us that pace we were lacking along with the ability to stretch the opposition's defence making more room for others to exploit, but it's not to be.

Rafa knows he needs someone with pace for certain matches and in certain tactical situations. I can't believe he would sell him unless he was fairly sure he could get someone in to do the same job.

Then again if he doesn't get someone in it would tell us a lot about how Rafa rates Bellamy and/or how he sees his attitude and off-pitch behaviour.

I thought he scored about 13 goals.

In my mind, that equates to about one bucket. Singular.

back for the same price no way. The only reason we got him for 6.6 million is because of a clause in his contract. He's worth c10 million.

If he was really worth 10M, we wouldn't be selling him.

For 10M, you would expect 15 league goals a season mininum, or an equivalent number of assists.

I think he is worth about 6M tops.
                        Oh I don't know.

                          Well said.

Bellemy is a good player and works his ass off and has passion for the club which is one of the best qualities to have.

I feel with proper wingers to feed the ball into the channels for him, he will run a muck with defenders and score more goals then this year.

Rafa rates him he wouldnt of signed him otherwise, i know people say he was second choice blah blah but i think Rafa knew what he wanted when he signed him.

You could say if we got Eto'o then Bellers wouldnt be needed, but we dont have Eto'o and no guarantee we will get him.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
