    Disgusting bile-filled Blue

I came across this "article" via the Liverpool page on Newsnow. What he says about Hillsborough (especially in this context) is absolutely disgraceful.

    Complete prick.

I'd put money on him not being a scouser. Everton fans lost family members to that day and they would not say such a low comment such as that. I'd bet he would get a good kicking in an Evertonian pub if he said that.
        Forwards.......

            just got a reply back

Thanks for raising your concerns regarding offensive comments made in David Bowes' article.

We have edited the paragraph in question and placed the following disclaimer below the article:

Normally, we distance ourselves from the opinions of contributors to Fans Comment articles, allowing the pieces to stand or fall on their own merit. In the case of this article, comments by the author inferring the culpability for the Hillsborough disaster lay with Liverpools fans has provoked such a strong reaction — and understandably so — that we felt it necessary to remove the offending paragraph.

We would like to reaffirm that those opinions were those of the author only and were neither representative of the views of ToffeeWeb nor those of Evertonians in general.

you have to call em on it every time

well they have edited the article so cant comment upon what he's said (although from reactions above it sounded bitter, twisted and pathetic) but they have left in the part about us building upon Hillsborough. For gods sake, how could anyone stoop so low as to suggest we benefited from it? The city was united in grief, blue and red came together in mourning. Whoever he is, he needs his head examined. no real Liverpudlian would ever suggest what he has. God knows what he said before it was edited.

To be fair the reaction to the article from the editor and the other poster is pretty good IMO. You'll always get idiots like this, but seeing one of his own put him down is a good sign.

I would nt bet on his not being a scouser, there is a whole generation of Evertonians that Hillsborough means little to and a recent history that has made their fans increasingly bitter. The argument that we profited from Hillsborough isn t a new one but seems to have developed a new intensity. My little nephew, who has a season ticket at Everton, asked me this question last week and I am presuming he is picking these things up there.

I am glad that there are enough Evertonians willing to put this dick in his place over this article, but there are thousands that share those views.

i think that younger fans do show more hatred to us. have heard bad things from young bitters and in southport a 19 year old friend of the family said murderers when i said i support Liverpool.

Its all very dissapointing. but i cant see it changing if the younger ones believe this.

It's quite simply the easiest put-down they can think of. Their small club - and their bile-filled bitter fans - cannot compare with us in any single attribute of the modern game, so the easiest thing for them to do is come out with ****e like that. They all know it's not true themselves - but it just goes to show how ****ing stupid they are that they still spit out this bile anyway.

the lad who called us murderers claims to be a leeds fan. i know an older blue and he stopped going to games and stopped taking his kids. has no time for it any more as he says the atmosphere is more hate filled than competative.

so those of you from and living in Liverpool when did the bitters start to really hate us en mass?

from everything i've read it seems to have been a gradual thing over the course of the 90's
