Nothing interesting about the story but the headline's not bad
gays hoping for Cisse deal Fri, May 18 2007 11:21
Marseille are reportedly hoping to keep on-loan striker Djibril Cisse at the Stade Velodrome - at least for another year.
Cisse has not had the easiest of times in France this season since his return in October from a broken leg sustained immediately prior to the World Cup, but he has still managed to score 14 goals for the Stade Velodrome outfit.
Marseille do have the option of making the France international's move a permanent one, but Liverpool want QUID8.2million in order to effect the move, a figure that the French giants are unwilling to pay.
There have been suggestions that QUID4.8million is a possibility, but it seems that if Cisse is to stay, it is more likely to be an extension of his loan deal.
L'OM chairman is hoping to sort it out one or the other in the near future and will sit down with his Liverpool counterpart, once both clubs' campaigns have ended.
"Liverpool are preparing for the UEFA Champions League final, and we are in the final run of Ligue 1," Diouf told L'Equipe.
"We all want to start talks after those key periods. We want to know more about next season, which could affect our future choices."
Whether Liverpool would be willing to sanction another loan deal remains to be seen as they are in the market for new players themselves and may prefer the cash to help fund their spending.
