I do agree with that. Our fluidity will improve as the quality of the squad improves. All the rubbish about how Rafa doesn't like flair players or doesn't know what to do with them makes me laugh.

A decent manager once said that it's not about the long ball or short ball, it's about the right ball - and that describes Rafa's game perfectly. Play the ball that'll hurt the opposition most. We're not a long ball team. At times though it's absolutely right to hit the striker quickly. Arsenal, for example, seem almost autistic at times in the way they play and their refusal to do this. It's one of the reasons they lose and draw certain games.

If you want to see a long ball team, think back to the second leg against the Chavs. Young Cashley used to be a good attacking full back. Against us he spent the whole game hitting long diagonal balls to Drogba. If I was a Chav fan, I would have been embarrassed that the most expensively assembled football team in history were so myopic in their play.

I don't agree with Scholes being an overrated player at all. He's been fantastic this season and for me has been United's best player over the years. He makes them tick by keeping it simple and my word he can pass it long also. He produced one glorious long ball to Ronaldo yesterday, which was reminiscent of Xabi at his best.

      Great little player.

I remember the George Graham Arsenal....winning every week, trophies every season but....they were labelled as boring, dull and too robot like. I agreed at the time but I also envied the *******s, id be quite happy to win 1-0 each and every week if it meant we were winners, succesful and champions!!!
So, to summarise, id prefer to win playing fantastic football, but id take just winning at any cost any day of the week.
I reckon Rafa thinks exactly the same too!

Guess we'll have to disagree then.

I agree, it's results that count. Liverpools great sides in the 1970s/1980s were built on solid defence.

Scholes is a magnificent player, and his fitness for most of the season is the reason why they won the league.

                  Yep.
Take him out of their team and they lose 25% of their ability.

Take Ronaldo out, and they lose 50% of it. Who's been more important to them? Ronaldo.
