    Alonso is boss.

    He will be for Barca!

As for Momo, what are his stats?
And Maschers, while you are at it, Professor.
Don't get me started on Mono!! zero goals in 70+ matches and 1 assist. ABYSMAL!!!

It's to early to bring in Mascher stats. He only played 6/7 games so far.

Which suggests it is too early to give Alonso the boot and claim Mascher is the new Didi.

I really think it'd be a bad move to sell Alonso.

However, if he isn't happy for one reason or another then he simply must be sold for top dollar (i.e. £20m+), or included in a deal for someone like Eto'o. We must not sell one of our best players for peanuts, and should insist on a part-ex with one of the Spanish big boys if he is sold.

Saying that, I don't think Xabi will leave, and I also think there's room for him and Mascherano in the same side/squad. My one guess at a possible central midfielder to leave this summer (apart from Zenden) is Sissoko.

I would be gutted if that one player was Alonso.

I disagree. Mascher is just the ticket we need. With Lucas and hopefully Alves and Kewell we will look much better.

The problem (for me) with Alonso is on the final 1/3.

We need to do much better if we want to win the PL. Alonso can't improve those stats as far as I'm concerned. He had his chance and it's time to let go.

Premiership Goals from rest of team:
            Scum - 52
            Blue Scum - 33
            Arsenal - 31
            Liverpool - 24 !!!

of the 3, momo is just about the weakest player- the brazilian lad could be brilliant or he could not settle so i'll leave him out of it- so he would be the obvious "sell", as much as i like him.

having said that, you mentioned yourself that no one player can play well for 60 games, so to have options in this most crucial of areas is only good for us as we should start to step up and genuinely challenge for the league as well as Europe.

I got annoyed and gutted that zenden got injured so i dread to think how i would feel if we lost a big player.

funnily enough, Ballague mentioned on the times podcast that if xabi is left out of the final he might consider his future after he was dropped for the semi. if true i am disappointed in xabi's attitude.

Regardless of form (and xabi has not been great this last year or so) Rafa has played him in big games whenever fit enough to do so.

most, myself included, would say that xabi is rafa's voice on the pitch- more than stevie or carra- but rafa has shown that no player is undroppable and that is the right way.

the good thing is that since being dropped xabi seems to have upped his game in the matches he has been picked for.

as for masher, i have seen enough to know that he is very good and on the way to being genuine world class (a phrase bandied around too much in the overhyped premier league) and if we get the chance to keep him long term then we should do so

                Mascher is the way forward.

Alonso will do much better in Spain.

Alonso is a fine player but he is all passing. It's just not good enough. The 5/5 stats a abysmal when you consider how many shots he has fired on goal since he arrived. Simply amazing that he hasn't scored more.

I think Xabi's been pretty damn disappoiting this season to be perfectly honest, expect alot more from him but....
he's genuinely world class and to sell him would be a massive step down, masherano or no masherano i still think Alonso is a big, big game player for us.

Alonso is far more than "aal passing" my friend

Considering NO Liverpool player has made and won more tackles and interceptions in the last 3 years says a lot about Alonso

I meant "on the ball". He has improved a lot as a HM. No doubt about that. The problem (for me again) is that he offers too little on the final 1/3. His passing is good and it's a good 'weapon' but imo he is too easily shut down. He can't dribble a man and create situations where we out number the defence. He is relatively slow. For a team like Barca he could be fantastic. Fast passing and great movement around him.

I'm not saying Alonso is not a good player I just don't think that he is the one for Gerrard at CM.

mascher goal/assits tally aint no better either..would be interesting to see his numbers before he joined WHU..I still think he needs time to adjust in the Prem. He dallies to much sometimes(Charlton 1st goal was his mistake) that we lose possession.

So, it is also motivated by the fact that SG must play central?

I hate to remind you - but Rafa is all about:

it is not the way forward selling a player with the talent of xabi. personally i think him and masher will be centre mid on wed with stevie on the right as for the left i haven't a clue!
