Gimmee Alonso over Mascher

Alonso for me. Mascherano is still not proven in the prem. Alonso been with us for 3 years now so he knows the English game.
Why not save the 10£m fee on Mascheano when we can use it to sign a top class striker like Eto'o or Tevez.
I would keep Momo as well, his dip of form is temporary but his class is permenant

Question is,Who could we replace Xabi with with the money we make on Xabi??




Other thing is,he`s our best inducement with a swap deal.

Replacement....There isn't that many players out there that is as complete as Alonso. He is an excellent ball winner. Momo is called the boss but the player that should be called that is Xabi.

Take Xavi for example. He is a better passer but not as good ball winner as Alonso.

The only one I can think about that could replace Xabi is already playing for us, Mascherano.

Well, they're our 2 holding midfielders seeing that Rafa bought Mascherano because he wanted an alternative in this position to Alonso I can see both staying. Mascherano offers just that little bit extra solidity defensivly which can make up for Gerrards indiscipline and allows us to use both in a 4-4-2. Even though Alonso's defensive game is good, Mascherano's is just that bit better and he is more of a ball winner than Alonso, what has really impressed me about Mach is how he always gives someone in our backline a passing option by running across the back, very impressive. This suites us against better teams, but against lesser teams I think that Alonso is more valuable as he can spread passes and make play springboarding attacks. Alonso being no slouch defensivly (made the most tackles the last 2 seasons by far) leaves us in a good position. But Lucas/Momo would have to start next to him, not Gerrard and not usually Masch.

IMO there's a place in the team for both of them, but I don't know how content either will be missing games but thats football. Furthermore if we sold Alonso, what would we do in that holding position if Mascherano got injured? I think Lucas could play a holding role but it'd be a massive risk and Sissoko would instantly become a very very important player for us, and a Sissoko - Lucas midfield wouldn't sit too well with me at all. Inexperienced (well mainly on Lucas' part) and untested. To me it'd be very silly chucking out Alonso just for the possibility of that kind of scenario.

dont think he's leaving either, i just wanted to know who people think is the better player for us..Alonso is a pillar in this lfc squad..I highly doubt he will leave

Personally I can't see Rafa selling Alonso unless either the lad wants to go back to Spain, or he, and only he, can be used to get another player to Anfield who would improve the team more than Alonso's loss would damage it.
